Or is there a way to force Sony's Firmware update to take place despite the version number of the current firmware being the same? Or is there a download link to the UK firmware update? (Which, I believe, has a higher firmware version number, despite being functionally much the same.) Joember Last edited by Joember; 02-28-2010 at 04:50 PM.

http://projects.mobileread.com/reade...%20Special.exe it flashes the reader even if it is already "up to date". But that's US firmware. (as I recall, PRS+ requirements list mentions "you have firmware version 1.1.00.18040, or don't mind changing to this firmware version" right? ) Last edited by kartu; 02-28-2010 at 05:09 PM.

Once I manage a complete factory reset I'll (foolishly?) give your firmware another try. I imagine the problem was in some weirdness with my existing firmware settings or something... PRScustomizer... who knows. Joember

Joember PRS+ does next to no changes to the original firmware, 99% of the code is javascript located in internal memory. If your device is connected to USB then PRS+ doesn't even start. Problems like you've described are usually results of incompatible Rootfs/Fsk partition combination. If you had UK firmware it could be the reason. I'm almost done with PRS+ installer, that will get rid of such problems. 505's are sort of "unbrickable", in the worst case you'd need to do 10 timely resets (you have to reset right when you see the startup screen, otherwise code that says "oh, I could load just fine" will fool the antibrick mechanism) in a row and it'll fall into firmware upgrade mode. Unpack your Sony Updater, find file eBookUpdater/assets/updaterAssets/PRSVersion.dat and edit it to something larger. Then run the updater.

Kartu, I've sent the installer translation. Any other stuff you need to be done?

Mike_73 Thanks Mike. Install Guides will need updates, when PRS+ Installer is released. (I hope to do it in a couple of days max) |

Yep, just let me somehow know what and how things change. My version of PRS+ is running just fine, so I probably won't mess with it. |

It flashes orange seconds after restarting before the light going out altogether, and failing to load fully indefinitely, though I had it plugged into the USB all night. Is this (or this part, anyways) now looking like a charging issue? Joember |

Joember I don't know. Did you try Sony Updaters mentioned above? |

It never "connects"... not sufficiently charged, I assume. The red light being on indicates that its currently charging? Joember |

PRS+ 1.0 was released. Check changelog for changes. PRS+ Installer is available and should, hopefully, get rid of most of the installation problems. ps The red light being on indicates that its currently charging? I don't remember how it looks like when I charge it, I think it is red... :S Anyway, it certainly doesn't turn on red light when restarting. |
