What i like is when they use the skiers as gates for their stupid boarder "tricks." There's no way of getting their tickets cancelled, either.

we even that out at the ski school I work for and make the boarders be gates

actually, as an instructor I have literally pulled more than one ticket and handed it in with a complaint. I work for a private ski school, so don't really have the right to do that, but the area is pretty good about dealing with pissed off instructors and knowing we are protecting our munchkins (well adults as well)

Yeah. Bad taste... joke, that is...

That reminds me the first time I went to Florida it was winter here. I took an express bus from Montreal, a 33 hour ride. When I got near Orlando it was 5 in the morning and still a little dark. To my horror the ground seemed white in a lot of places. "Noooo, not snow here too?"
Turned out it was the sand's color. What a relief!

I'm sooooooo sick and tired of hearing solely about US athletes. Why do I do this to myself? Something like 40 years of watching and every time the Olympics come around I have the same problem that makes me want to throw stuff at the television. Please stop telling me about Apolo Ohno's complete life history. He may be interesting, but afterall, he is only rated #9 in the world. I want to know about that Canadian guy who blows by absolutely everyone in every single heat. You barely even tell me his name! Maybe I need to switch to the Mobilita Republica! channel.

A question for our distinguished panel:

Why on Earth are sports like curling divided by sex? It's not a sport in which men would appear to have any inherent advantage due to physical strength, so why have separate mens' and womens' events for it? Just seems silly to me.

Just a tidbit that i've heard over radio this week.

Figure skating in the early 1900 was mainly a men's sport. At one Olympic they allowed a woman to compete. She was so good that she won second place. That was a hit in the ....s, it could not be allowed to happen anymore. From then on, all disciplines would be segregated.

Will there be a day when competition is mixed again?
