Cool, I'll have to give it a look if I can get the reader software running on my Linux machine using an emulator. I plan to work on that later today.

Ok, we all stated that we like the 600 so far. There's one thing I don't like after approx. 3 weeks of usage. Sometimes when I double tap the right upper corner to get a bookmark, the dictionary opens up and gives an explanation for a random highlighted word on the page. Did anyone get across this, too? I find that annoying. But using the options button and then get a bookmark is kind of inconvenient. Is there a special double tap (i.e. do I probably just have a wrong timing?) that provides more "consistent" bookmarking?

Ha! I don't do a lot of bookmarking....just read, read, read....but....

one of the over-riding reasons I got the 900 was for the search. I was looking for a particular passage in a book and had to use my Kindle to find it....went right out and bought a 900 after that. Hee-Hee!

Well, yes. You can bookmark this way. I'm usually not reading the whole manual (I left out the music and picture stuff and the safety warnings.... oops, did I just write that), but normally I want to see what other features despite the main ones are available

I've had no problems using the upper right corner double tap to bookmark. Certainly has never opened the dictionary. Perhaps you're unintentionally touching another part of the screen at the same time, triggering that function?

I looked at that possibility, but no, I really was carefull to only tap the upper right corner. But honestly, the upper right corner is not really an exact description where to tap. I found though, that it works better if I really tap so close to the aluminum frame that I almost everytime touch the frame when I put bookmarks.

I've been using a PRS-300 for a little while now but after learning of some of the additional features of the 600 I wanted one. I was especially wanting the ability to expand the storage as well as wanting the touchpad features including hand-writing notes.
I'm v. interested in your opinion of the readabilty of the 600 compared to the 300. We're thinking of getting one for a parent whose eyesight is failing and the 600 is better on zooming the text than the 300. I was concerned that the 600 might have poorer contrast, however. What do you/others think?
Aside: has anyone tried loading books straight onto an SD card and using on the 600?

I'm loving mine. Having come to terms with the grayness of the screen, which is, it needs to be said, definitely gray. The glare that people mention is not at all a worry for me.

Funnily enough I also had the book mark glitch, after it had been working fine for a few weeks. Just suddenly stopped working. But the facility came back after I book marked a couple of time going through the menu. Then I tried doing so on screen and was able to again. I wasn't getting the dictionary, i was given the notes option or nothing. Odd tho'.

I would definitely recommend the reader - indeed, am doing so to anyone who'll listen. Turning into a real reader bore! Just such a blast to be able to carry 360 books, all of which were free, anywhere, anytime - glorious!

it's a trade off. Bigger screen vs smaller. Text underneath a touch screen versus Paper like closeness of text surface. Intuitive touch interface vs button association interface.

direct SD card book loading is certainly possible but won't get to categorize your books into Categories/Collections. So you'd be only left with Date/Author/Title to sort your books by.
