iPad New Site for iPad Forums

I just joined a new Forums site called: "iPad Forums".

It's a site dedicated to the iPad. Apple haters are not welcomed but tolerated. The functionalities are based on the same setups as this forum. If you're an oldhand here, you'll fit right in.

Be aware that at 765 members, discussion is slow. There are never are more than 5 to 20 members in but lots of lurkers.

You can find me there as iVan.

I've lurked there for a week or so. I will wager it will really come alive when people actually get their hands on their iPads....

Thanks for the link. I'll be interested in reading impressions there when it comes out, in addition to here.

Discussion here will naturally focus more on the reader functions, so good to have another site with more general impressions as well.

It's worth noting they have a dedicated forum on that site for books http://www.ipadforums.net/ibooks/ . Of course not much happening on it now, still over a month until it is even released....

There's a lot to be done there for us. Most people don't even know what DRM is. Some seem to think they'll be able to swap books...

Good to know, always good to have more sources for impressions. People here are much more knowledgeable on e-books, but impressions from more casual readers (like myself) about how the iPad is for reading will be more useful for me.

Not that people here are biased or anything. People who read for hours a day just have different needs than a much more casual reader like me.

It looks like iPad forums are popping up all over. This one has about 1200 members and a special thread for eBooks.

Good find! Looks like MR.

I've just been there to see the latest posts, that place is spammed to death. That's the biggest problem with being small, you can't afford a decent number of mods. We're blessed here...

Yes, I see that. Also a ROKU forum I frequent was also spammed today. I wish there was some automatic way for these forums to crush the spammers.

Very few sites pay their mods. It's mostly volunteer work. Problem is more with being a new site you haven't had people posting long enough to identify good choices for mods, and you can't rush into it. Having too few mods can ruin a site, but having the wrong people be mods can ruin it even quicker.
