Fictionwise is the only place I shop for ebooks. Thanks for the coupon.

I used to be a fan of Fictionwise but now I buy most of my books from Amazon.

Take this book for example (Dragon Champion by E.E Knight):
http://www.fictionwise.com/ebooks/b72628/?si=0

Even with this 25% off giving you a price of $9.45 (not club) the regular price at Amazon is only $0,54 higher ($9.99).

One other thing I've noticed about Fictionwise lately is that they more or less dropped the support for secure mobi on a lot of the books, pushing hard for Secure eReader format.

I'm new to ebook readers and would appreciate clarification. I have a Sony Pocket Reader - about two weeks old. When I downloaded the software, I didn't have a choice whether to download the Sony software or the ADE as everything installed automatically at the same time. So when I read posts that discuss whether to use the Sony software or the ADE - it is confusing to me. How does one access the ADE software?

I am using Sony for mac which is not as up to date, I think. Epub library books, and books from Kobo seemed to be fine with it. I never had any issues until I got these books from Fictionwise which it seems needed the 'proper' ADE. So now I have both softwares, and while that is not my preference, I put everything into Calibre anyway. I am trying to stop buying secure eReader as it's very messy to 'liberate' so I am getting everything in epub now.

When you buy an ePub book from Fictionwise (as an example). You'll get a download link for a acsm.file. Which is a pointer to where the file can be downloaded.

In Firefox the browser gives you an option to "Save the File", or "Open Using" which allows you to select a program to open the file with. you need to select "Adobe Digital Editions". The file will then be downloaded to ADE.

The software that opens the "Reader Library" - is that Sony or ADE? When I purchase from the Sony Store, my purchases go directly into the library as purchases. I've purchased from Kobo and the same occurs. When I downloaded some of the free books discussed on this board from Smashwords, I copied the files to my PC and dragged them into my reader via the Reader Library".

The Reader Library is from Sony. It integrates ADE (that's why you need both installed (if I'm not mistaken) into Sony software. It should work fine for most stores.

However it seems with Fictionwise you need to use ADE directly. To open ADE, you can see if you have an Adobe Digital Editions in your Programs. The Sony software tends to steal the file associations so it might open by default when you double click on and ePub file or open an acsm.file.

Just download and install. Some secure PDF will also require ADE (rather than just the Adobe Reader software).

I don't understand how Fictionwise expects to sell public domain books you can get for free (or for very little cost) all over the internet for $20+ e.g. Edward Gibbons' Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire -- $26 regular $23 Club price per volume!!

Unbelievable!!!

Thank you! I hadn't bought much from FW lately because their prices have steadily risen to the point where I can generally do better elsewhere, in spite of my free Buywise membership. But this coupon let me get one of the books on my wish list down below $8.

Could this coupon be used multiple times, or only once per account?

As many times as you'd like. Good thing, because to get all the Agatha Christie books currently at <$1 you need to make several purchases to replace the Micropay dollars you just spent with the rebates.
