my wireless printer is on same network as a mac with osx which is running a bit of software that an app on my iphone sends stuff it wants printing to, including an email address that will print any attachment that I post to that email. its the app of the apple iphone adverts. so i can write a word doc in quickoffice then choose email and email it to my especially crated Stuprint gmail.com address and it will auto print it(only if its from my personal email)

Gotcha, thanks for that. I thought for a minute I'd missed a trick in printing directly from iPhone OS |

My argument is that so far everything points to the fact that the iPad OS does not show printing options in its features. I am an ardent defender of the iPad for what it represents, a formidable reading device that happens to have many other advantages over other competitors, notably creative possibilities. There are not many readers that allow to also write. So it has its place on Mobile Read. I radically resent the fact that it could have been cut from a "given" that any creative process should have in its expression. Any artwork being created has to be verified on paper throughout its creation process. I print my drawings continually, specifically at most critical stages. Even in basic surfing mode, am I the only one to print interesting finds? I don't think so. |

I think you will find the app itself will provide the ability to transfer files to and from your computer. Isn't this what the app Documents To Go does now?

Last time I repeat myself. The printing issue is a deciding factor in my purchase of the device. I wanted to be an early adopter (not adapter like I've seen often ) but this will force me to wait out and see until some solution stands out as a good compromise. Until then I get a crazy alarm bell ringing in my ears... Thanks all for listening, my rant is over!

It sounds like there are apps to do wireless printing on the iPhone, so I imagine the iPad will get some too. As I said before, it's not an issue for me as I don't have wifi printers at home or the office, and have no problem just e-mailing myself documents to print etc. |

Doesn't seem like it'd be so hard to provide a wifi print function. The selection of wireless printers, not even connected to a PC, is growing and my next printer will probably have it. Seems like something the iPad should support.

There is an app in the story that lets you print from the iPhone for months already. I would assume at the very least that it would come out for iPad natively. I do hope apple makes this native, if they don't have it in already. It would be a downside, I do agree. |

The iPad OS is more than an iPhone OS, proof is that aps created for the iPad will not work on an iPhone. Using iPhone aps is a temporary situation until there are more native aps to take over so iPad owners would not be stranded...

Ipad can and is able to print. I loaded this software, "Cortado workplace" from the App Store. it’s a free software, thank God. This app provided me with a 1G of storage space, were I can load my documents from a home/office computer or thru E-Mail. Then I can access those documents directly from my I-Pad and print them to any printer using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. That fixed my problem. Now I can access my documents on the go, road, airport, office, home and print whenever I need a hard copy.

With "Cortado Workplace" you dont have to send the document to a computer to print. just print directly from your ipad to any printer. and no need to install additional drivers.
