I think Australia just won something. Snowboarding halfpipe? I don't really know, and haven't checked the news. I've not been watching the Channel 9 coverage, because every time I turn to it Eddie McGuire's on and he's just that kind of commentator/telly presenter whose every word makes me itch to rip out his voicebox.

Surely a better measure for the Winter Olympics would be number of medals won per average snowfall?

i.e. Norway/Switzerland etc get a s**tload of snow every winter so get a relatively low mpas (medals per average snowfall) score - if Ethiopia or Kenya win a medal, that is much more impressive (imho).

Oooh, surprise, the USA won in a 'sport' they invented (cf. baseball, american football etc..).

And yes, I am fully aware that we Brits can't even win in sports we invented (football for example), but that's just because of the...and the...and, of course...anyway!
