Ahi tuna! How could anyone pass that up raw? Okay, raw beef is good, I admit, but some species of fish eaten raw is just amazing.

Just remember: paleolithic people only ate natural food, and their life expectancy was 33 (says Wikipedia. I wasn't there).

Mmm. I probably had too much Beaujolais tonight. The above probably has nothing to do with the current discussion... Still, according to the CIA, France (where we each raw meat and raw cheese) ranks #8 in the World for life expectancy, and the USA are #49

I'm working on deadline to finish a newspaper layout, that's after having to wait 3 days after the actual deadline for them to get the articles to me. Now I'm running late and I still need to meet MY deadline.

Guess this means LOTS and LOTS of coffee and an all-nighter!!!!

The worst thing is that they can innocently add that some articles still need work, but they don't want to delay things... oh and everything still needs to be done by Friday morning -less than 12 hours since I got the articles at 8 pm... Arghhh!!!

I think I'm getting too old for this. A few years back I was fine with going to work and surviving on 2 hours of sleep. (The newspaper is a freelance thing). Now I actually feel the sleep deprivation...

You know, steak tartare is ridiculously easy to make. Here is a recipe from a French site. I was lazy and used Google translate, the result seems reasonable so it must be right

Quote:
Ingredients (for 2 persons):
- 250 g (1 / 2 pound) fresh beef fillet (head)
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped capers
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- A few drops of Tabasco sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley

Preparation:

Cut the meat with a knife (in small cubes).

In a bowl, combine egg yolk, Dijon mustard, onion, capers, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Tabasco, salt and pepper. Add olive oil, stirring with whisk.

Add meat to sauce and parsley. Adjust seasoning.

Refrigerate or serve immediately.

No prescription needed. Take as often as necessary. Overdosing is not possible.

sorry about that rant, everyone. I'm just finding it harder and harder to deal with the craziness in this world.

And I'm seriously pissed off at people who decide to take not only their own lives, but feel its their right to take others with them.

Sir Ralph, consider me there. Nothing like daffodils to renew hope in a warmer season!

Seriously, I've never heard of any risk associated with this. And it really tastes great.
unfortunately it is common in slaughterhouses that cater to companies that tend to sell bulk and therefore slipshod goods. by doing this the target audience of people who eat a lot of fastfood, buy the cheap bulk 5 and 10 pound burger rolls (chubs), tend to get it (ecoli). and because of all of that it spreads like wildfire

last I heard and this is from reputable sources which I could probably google if I wanted to...

ecoli does not exist interior to meat. ie; the inside parts of roast and steak and so on do not carry it. it rides on the surface of meat and is triggered by airborne contact. the ecoli gets on the equipment which is then not cleaned correctly and then you have an outbreak.

there are MANY micro critters in all of the food. ask your prof how he feels about the excretions left over from a passionate night of lovemaking. you'd probably never have sex again

pretty close, but I would NEVER put ketchup in it!!! and there is almost no way to chop it fine enough, it needs to go through the fine grinder to have the right texture
