Question Please

For those people who bought 2 or more of these babies. If by any chance you end up not having anyone to give it to. Would you please consider seeling it to me? I don't have that much to spend since I'm getting married in a few months. But I'd be willing to pay $150 for the Reader.

Not to be a naysayer - and I'm happy for all of you who scored on this deal - but I once had an extremely negative experience with Tiger Direct, and have sworn to never deal with them again.

I was out-and-out lied to by several of their personnel on the availability of an HDTV; I was told it was in stock, ordered it, it suddenly became unavailable, and I waited week after week while they had charged my card, kept my money, kept telling me it would ship on a certain date, had already shipped, would ship in two more weeks, etc. Lie after lie after bald-faced lie.

I eventually got my funds back after six weeks, ordered the TV from a little place in North Dakota, of all places, and had it in three days.

Any way, good luck to all concerned, but be warned about these people. I've never posted a complaint like this before, because I've never had reason to; but these people pissed me right off.

I almost bought a second unit at that price

But then realized that I have had bad experiences with Tiger Direct, and that Sony is rumored to be coming out with a new unit. I actually had it in my shopping cart and then decided to save the money for a different unit.....

Mine (a second unit for my wife) now says Shipped, and has been scanned into the UPS system. So I guess Tiger Direct is really going to honor the price.

I just got an update with a UPS tracking number, so my fingers are crossed, and i'm really hoping for a friday delivery

For me, the $100 was in expensive enough that i wont feel terrible if it turns out that it becomes dated very quickly. This is my first foray into a dedicated eReading device, after hoping and wanting for many years!

This is more or less what we do -- after 20 years of marriage, it seemed like a good way to avoid friction. We get by on my paycheck, which is deposited into our joint account, from which my husband pays the bills. But a small amount gets automatically transferred to a second account, which I can spend on whatever I want. Also, if I take extra work (e.g. the Chinese language games book that's supposed to be available from chinasprout.com "any day now"), any proceeds from that go to my account.

But right now I'm all tapped out anyway, so I couldn't have bought a Reader even if I'd seen the notice in time. I'd have liked to get one for my daughter, the Manga Maniac, but honestly I've already spent all I should on her birthday. All the rest of my money is currently tied up in printing an original card game (http://zigraphix.com if you're interested). My daughter will just have to continue to get by with my eBw 1150 for now.

I don't believe so. Do you have any link to this rumor?

Mine has been SHIPPED

It's 6:00 a.m. Friday morning, and I just checked. Yesterday, it had not been shipped.

Now, I wonder if this is part of the original 1,000 unit purchase by TigerDirect, or if they were allowed to order more units before they withdrew the offer completely.

They told me 2-3 days for arrival once it's shipped, so that might bring it here on Monday or Tuesday.

(1) Does anyone know if I have to create an entirely new account with this Reader in order to qualify for the offer on the credit for the free books?

(2) Will my Connect software work with two different units on the same computer?

(There are NO returns, I understand, unless it's obviously defective in shipping.)

I´ve transfered the money today.

Before I called tigerdirect twice .. the first time somebody said something about 108,39 USD ... but I called again and asked about this wired transer fee and he said 133,39 USD.

Tigerdirect seems very unorganized ...

My bank was going crazy about the bank data.

But now it seems to work.

If not I´m probably sponsored the banking system and the American Economy ... I´ll keep you informed about it ...

Greetings
tobias

As I unterstood this offer it's valid for 1 Reader for 1 connect-account.

No, since you can only "log in" to the connect store with one account at a time.

My advice: Virtual Machine with a 2nd connect software installation.

This has not been confirmed. It will be checked as soon as someone gets their second Sony Reader.

I would not want to try to get a 2nd "free books"offer with a 2nd Reader using only 1 connect-account.

My thoughts:

Activating the Reader for the very first time registers the serial on a sony server and get's you the "free books" offer.

Activating the Reader using a connect-accout which already got the "free books" offer will *not* get you another "free books" offer but will also register the Reader on a sony server.
Now trying the virtual pc trick I mentioned also will *not* get you the offer because the Reader already has been registered on the sony server on the first attempt to get that offer.

It's rooted in a comment that Sir Howard made at CES, but seeing as how it's the only reference to a new unit that's come down the pike ....
