Truly, Madly by Heather Webber and A Night Too Dark by Dana Stabenow. I expect to adore both of them.

Bought 'New York' by E Rutherfurd as pBook because I have all his other books on the shelf. Darn is that thing heavy. Went it bought it as eBook too - so much easier to read.

Book Club book for february? what book? Oh, the one I fell asleep over after 4 pages.

Living Oprah by Robyn Okrant. This is a library book. It's about a woman who vows to spend an entire year doing everything Oprah says. She is a little slavish about following this exactly (for example, she receives as a gift something Oprah says to 'go out and buy' so she returns the gift because Oprah did not say receiving it as a gift was permitted) but does make some interesting observations about what happens when you give over your thoughts to someone elses vision. What annoyed me though were the summary tables at the end of each chapter highlighting what she spent in time and money during each month. The font had to be shrunk to its smallest and the screen orientation flipped for them to be readable, and that got a bit tedious.

I see to be on a non-fiction kick right now because I just picked up 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks' with a Kobo coupon. I read an excerpt and it looks super-interesting. I have noticed a trend with me and Kobo. I seem to only get books from there which are not available at Fictionwise, so my bookshelf there is a lot choosier and the handful I have bought have been very deliberate purchases. In contrast, my bookshelf at Fictionwise is littered with a ton of 'bought it on a whim due to 100% micropay rebate' kind of stuff and is much trashier

Just finished 'Cat and Mouse' by James Patterson. A surprisingly good read.

I am speeding through the Mapp & Lucia Omnibus - wonderfully prepared by MR's own HarryT - splendid formatting for splendid writing! Molto bene (as Lucia would say).

Well, I pulled the trigger and bought _The Stand_. $8.09. A bit pricey for such an old back catalog book... but not too bad. From what I hear it will be worth it. It will probably keep my busy for a month since I don't read that much every day.

So, that's three 900+ page books in a row.

Great books indeed!

There was also an excellent TV adaptation which is out on DVD - highly recommended.

I was going to buy The Lovely Bones since it is on 100% rebate, but the ebook is $16.99 ($14.44 club price) and the mass-market paperback is $7.99 so...pass

A quick check on Inkmesh shows several places to get the ebook for $5.

I find Fictionwise micropayment scheme to not be a good deal at all excepting the times when you can earn rewards by spending rewards.
