Here's what I was riding from the late 80s through part of the 90s. I had a beard then, and my hair (even my beard) was black.

And, yes, I rode all year around. No one ever really appreciates warm weather like a year-around biker! Folks may not appreciate it, but when you're riding, you make your own Wind Chill factor. BRRRR!

I had a Honda Shadow American Classic when I lived in Idaho. Going up over the pass to get to Montana to really open her up was "brisk" to say the least! I still miss that bike...

If there wasn't any snow or ice on my 450' driveway I would have gone for a ride Sunday...it got up to 34 here in northern Maryland. Supposed to be around 40 tomorrow, but I'll be stuck at work. My coldest commute last year was 17 degrees.

No desperation, Lady Blue! It's all just a matter of time, promise!
We tried this today and it worked quite well:
- bake strawberry cake (just use frozen berries)
- heat up your house to 26 C / 79 F
- paper your windows with posters of sunny beaches

I had a '78 550 Suzuiki that look similar. It was my first bike. I bought it back in '86.

The ACE is a great bike. I had the ACE Tourer. It was the first of my 2 Honda's. The second was a VTX. I traveled many miles on the 1100cc bike with my wife and a T-Bag and it never missed a beat.

That was the same year I bought my Sportster. A friend did the paint job, I made brackets to keep the Saddle bags away from the exhaust pipes, installed home-made front foot rests and mirror mounts, and put the battery cover together from old pieces of perforated metal. I also cut the saddle bags (they didn't fit the Sporty) and added additional leather so they would fit. It was an interesting looking little bugger, but no one would ever mistake the things I did for a professional custom job. I also bought an oversized peanut style gas tank, as I quickly tired of having to stop at every gas station to fill the tiny stock Sportster tank.

All I have left now of my biking days is the tattoo.

well if we're doing true bike confessions, I inherited a Triumph Bonneville while I was in the Army. rode that until my Dad laid it down under a car making an illegal left turn (he had loaned me his car to take my cousins skiing, instead of borrowning my bug, it was "let me have the bike"). I'd really like another one of the classic ones. (no tattos)

I love Bonnevilles. If I were to suffer from SMAS (Sudden Motorcycle Aquisition Syndrome) it will either be because of a Bonnevile or a dual-sport like the Suzuki V-Strom.

it's a fun bike, even with the oil stripe up your back. I hear that's been fixed though

Back on topic...

When you set a new local record for consecutive days under 40 F and don't have anything close to predicted for the next week and a hlf...

As for Vancouver, I heard it said that this is the warmest winter they've had in recorded history. Figures, huh? Just when you want snow and cold . . . someone turns up the heat.
