my daughter had one hospital clinic appointment postponed because she was being treated as an in-patient.
on asking for a second postponement because of being unable to travel 350 miles in deep snow, she was told a charge would be made for a re-schedule!.

On declining, a letter arrived a few days later thanking her for letting the hospital know she no longer needed treatment!

And then, of course, the rigmarole of getting her back into the waiting list!

I would LOVE to remark on that situation, but I'll refrain since I wouldn't want to open up that particular can of worms.

But I will say this. I can't speak for phsrynk's outfit, or others elsewhere, but anywhere I have lived, the standing rule was (is) if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, they won't charge you, but with less notice they will. Yet I've never known of ANY doctor charging for a cancelled visit no matter what the time span.

I think they just post that statement in the offices here as a deterent.

I'm not too sure on the timescale for the wait - it's a case of one consultant at home getting back in touch with the equivalent; and then pushing through the necessary.

luckily this is a related condition to her main one, so not too desperate!

They really wanted to be treated. One look at your avatar told them they didn't need it...
