Whenever I'm a patient I find myself wondering the same thing.
During the several hours I'm invariably kept hanging about in the waiting room.

Home with a sore throat & fever - if I am getting the flu again I'm gonna get in a seriously bad mood. Here's hoping chicken soup, toast, tylenol & liberal doses of MR can bring about a cure!

I know what you are talking about. there is one doctor here in my department who will not be getting a quality incentive because of his chronic half hour to two hours lateness in getting patients in. It drives me nuts to be even five minutes behind. I think it's extremely disrespectful of patients' time to make them wait past when they have appointments.

I've fired doctors before for just such practices.

I can tolerate an occassional reasonable delay, but chronic overbooking or other poor time management is unacceptable. Everyone's time is valuable, including the patient.

And when the office staff totally ignores the fact that you haven't been informed of any reason for the excessive delay while they cackle to each other instead, well, that's just rude and unprofessional. I won't be back.

Overbooking is another matter.

Office staff is a huge pain in my arse. The current accepted behavior by them is unacceptable.

Talking loudly to each other about personal problems, complaining about schedules, and total lack of professionalism is just mind boggling.

I love my doc, but hate his office.

The last time I went to an "Urgent Care Center", aka "Doc in a Box," on a Sunday, I was the ONLY patient in the building and could see the doc sitting in his office reading. I had to wait an hour to get a Z-Pack! Never been back there.

The office manager is right on top of the front desk staff to make sure they are compliant with Mayo Standards of Conduct. We take customer service very seriously. (Except for Dr Ican'tbebotheredwithevenstartingontime.)

The first time I saw my MD I expected to pay with a credit card... and they didn't accept them. When I asked him about it (not really a complaint) he told me how expensive they were for him... and how it was a small family practice and how you have to wait for hours at places that take credit cards.

Since then he has yet to see me on time. I have waited up to three hours there... I don't know why I wait. I really want to find a new DOC but have been to lazy too.

I mean, if you are running 3 hours late... how about a fracking phone call to let me know or maybe to reschedule?
