This makes me happy. Internet thieves should never have been given free reign this long.

Really, people are hacking into servers, copy and deleting stuff and are getting free reign?

Hm...

Alternatively, you're missing that the crime of theft requires deprivation, and is an inappropriate term to use for unauthorised copying, the actual offence being committed.

Microsoft's Darknet Paper talked about how it was impossible to stop the Darknets, and they're quite right. All the campaign you're supporting will manage to do is depress legitimate licensing sales as people are scared away from purchasing any entertainment IP.

I just have to post again on this thread, it's just too much....................... What honestly kills me about this is.... with all the security issues facing America right now, it just seems like a bad time for our Justice Department to expend energy doing this. It's sorta like the health care thing. With unemployment at 10%, economy shaken...etc, perhaps not the best time to spend endless energy on something unrelated.....

sorry, don't mean to be controversial.... just find it all so stupid.... Sort of like washing the windows while the house is on fire....

I think Obama missed his opportunity on this. He should have just told the MPAA and RIAA about the gazillions of dollars they're losing every year because of the sick, bankrupt and dead people. Then he could have just got them to lobby for his Health Care reforms.

And yet again, my tax money go somewhere that won't benefit people of US. Just 3 weeks later after they cut NASA budget. Yeah we have money to fight for RIAA, but not to put a man on moon again.
Sell out politicians, for shame.

Yea, pump money into NASA, who have failed to produce a launch vehicle more modern than 70's tech, have a tin can in the sky which produces no worthwhile results and...

...bluntly, you just picked a bad example.

(Civilian space exploration ++. NASA --, for reference)

So where do you all expect future jobs in the US to be? The US produces almost no physical goods anymore. If all goods in digital form are free, the only thing left will be working at the golden arches. Oh yes, and politics. Great prospects for your children, and you, if you are young enough.

Wait, our options are producing digital goods for free or working fast food? Crap. Don't tell my boss!

Back to my service job (which produces FREE digital copies of our work to our clients!)

"The task force, which will be headed by the deputy attorney general, will focus on improving coordination with state, local and international law enforcement officials and monitoring and coordinating the department's IP enforcement efforts with increased attention to the link between IP crimes and international organized crime."

Maybe I am just not aware of it but since when is there any significant link between "IP crimes" and "international organized crime". I don't know, tell me if I am wrong. (Unless they are talking about things like torrent sites that are accessed internationally but this is certainly not what most people think of when talking about "international organized crime")

Here are just a few NASA spinoffs I know they are wasteful, but I think you have both over simplified and denigrated NASA un-necessarily.

And 10 NASA Inventions you use every day

NASA Spinoff homepage

More NASA Spinoffs

I'm sure there is redundancy on these sites, but you get the idea. Of course I will be told how wrong I am etc. But nonetheless, you and I are reaping the benefits of the space program as you read these very words on your computer screen. Remember Invention breeds Invention. Just saying.
