What's Sony's next ereader?

If sony's next ereader has the same functions as PRS900, but with bigger (like 768 x 1024) and non-reflective touch screen, I will definitely get one.

I'd like to see the PRS900 get a less reflective screen as well... but I'm not sure I'd go too much bigger. The 900 is in a sweet-spot in terms of size, and the width is pretty good for general book reading. I'd rather see the touchscreen get updated and the price fall a little bit than shove a more expensive screen into it.

I need to see better capture of stylus input and more capabilities --- if the PRS-600 or 900 were only able to capture strokes w/ sufficient fidelity that I could do roughs in them (as I used to do on my Newton MessagePad), I'd buy one immediately.

I love PRS900, but I could not read it because of its screen . I would like to pay a little more if it has bigger screen and is not reflective.
I read pdf books at most of time, 600*1024 is not bigger enough

I understand. Perhaps, at that higher price point, one of the tablets (not iPad) scheduled to be released later this year is an option.

I wonder if they will introduce ebook readers using the SiPix screens. These come with capacitive touch, and in 6" and 9" sizes. A 9" from Sony, otherwise similar in capabilities to the PRS-900, would give them a competitor to the Kindle DX (and to the several SiPix 9" devices in the pipeline from other vendors).

I would buy, regardless of price (as long as it is $750 or less), a 9-inch Sony with the SiPix touchscreen. I have been using my 505 for 3 years now, and it continues to be an excellent device -- works fine all the time. So I would be willing to move up the ladder with Sony. But right now I'm waiting to see the Jinke 9-inch SiPix.

For me, the form factor of the PRS900 is just right.

Although the software could be better, it's only an improved screen that would make me upgrade - while retaining battery life.

I think it is safe to assume that Sony is working around the clock on their answer to the iPad. Though not a dedicated reader, they have got to get a competing product out asap. Their next gen of dedicated reader (like most others next product) will probably not be eInk. There are just too many newer and better technologies on the horizon....

I do kinda wish it were a bit wider, but yeah, it's almost optimal for portability.

I do wish the contrast were better the touch-layer more transparent..

I love it though.

When I say upgrade the screen, that's pretty much what I mean. Fix the touch layer problems.

I keep wanting to find another device because of the screen, but nothing can touch it (pun intended) on the other fronts.

I have to say I don't want any kind of active screen. Biggest thing for me is a couple of weeks between charges, and for that EInk can't be beat.

I'm not trying to put you on the defensive, but why is going a couple of weeks between charges a vital feature?

I don't have an issue with charging either a full day or two is plenty for me. I do with the eInk were even more like paper with better contrast. Color would be great for magazine/article reading...
