Then you simply haven't ever found the right person. When you do, the hassle goes away, the trusting comes naturally and without fear, and you don't worry so much about the devastation or anger. Four years being married to THE right person taught me a lot

Seriously, I wanted to let you all know that I am doing well from my surgery on Wednesday. We did have to drive through yet another blizzard that dumped an additional 8 inches of snow on top of the 30 inches we already had to reach the hospital Wed. morning and what was supposed to be a relatively straight forward 1 to 1 1/2 hour procedure took 4 hours but otherwise everything went smoothly. I know that there has been a lot of debate about the US healthcare system but in my case, it's been nothing but great. My doctor went above and beyond to do what was best for me and my recovery and not what was easiest for her. They did kick me out of the hospital after only one day, which made me a little nervous, but I was very glad to be home and in my own bed. Although, I am sure my family is getting awfully tired of running cups of tea up to me.

That's not a prerequisite; it's just how it often ends up. Besides, a person has to have goals; if you're convinced that everything you've given is "enough", you run the risk of becoming complacent and that's a Very Bad Thing.

The logic of that escapes me. Are you saying that what you have to offer is necessarily insufficient? That somewhere there is necessarily a perfect being that would be perfect for your loved one? Someone that isn't you, obviously

The problem with our culture (and perhaps especially with the American flavor?) is that we want everything to be perfect, all the time. That is silly. Life is wonderful, but (because?) it's not perfect. Looking for perfection is just a very good way to make ourselves miserable while not enjoying what we have right here, right now.
