All was fine until the last hour - and then she decided it was time to give me heck. If our grocery manager hadn't talked me down, I'd have walked out.
Then she called back after she left tonight, asking me "do you have issues with me?" Since she won't be back, and since I was still on the clock, I lied through my teeth and told her everything was cool. It wasn't, and it isn't, but hopefully I don't have to deal with it anymore.
I'm the type that falls apart after everything is over with. So I'm sitting here in tears wondering how I could have better dealt with the situation.
Sorry! I feel for you! Literally I'm in a similar situation that I've been dealing with in some ways for the last three years, but has been in stasis a bit because there have been managers and situations that have managed it, but now the upper management saw fit to make the person my boss and after much thrashing about -- talking to managers and HR etc -- I've concluded that the only answer is that I must find something new.

Again I'm sorry, but I think your situation is going to get better now. I hope so anyway. It is always difficult and sometimes dangerous (as in that and my situation) to express the truth.

Here's hoping things are better tomorrow!

I even tried talking to her about it in the beginning and it just made her worse. I guess what upsets me so much is that this NEVER happens to me. I pride myself on being able to get along with anyone, that's what makes me so good at customer service to begin with. But I just couldn't do it with her. Everything I tried backfired.

Sorry. My situation is the same, in over 40 years, I've never had to go to HR about a co-worker until the situation I found myself in. I tried talking with upper management and as a last resort went to HR and they still put the bozo in as manager of myself and another person - this happened a few weeks ago. I still met with bosses and HR and even the person, but I just don't see it working out.....

As they say, you are there, the person is gone. It will be okay.

In fact I just got a meeting invite for a "team meeting" scheduled for tomorrow - SUNDAY - VALENTINES DAY from 9-10 ...... I presume it's just a "mistake" but I'm dealing with his "mistakes" in his code and attitude and every aspect of interacting. I better shut up now....

You lost an opportunity to help someone and all other around this person. She opened a door, which is a rare thing for such a person. You could have been gentle and critical at the same time.
When coworkers open up to me in that way, I feel privileged that they should trust me and repay them with honesty and kindness. In this case you could have helped a lot of the people under her watchdog attitude. As I get older, I try to defuse situations more and more just by putting myself in other people's shoes.
Call her back and test the waters, just to see if she's willing to open that door again. Unless she really is an a******...

Yvan, I am afraid the latter is the case. I had already tried gentle tact and talking to her, and it made her worse. She really is a *****.

Rugby; Six Nations. The Scotland v Wales match.

At the end they didn't so much throw away their lead, as strap rockets to it, load it into a nuclear powered trebuchet, and put the whole shebang into a jet plane with a one way flight plan to Timbuktu.

Getting two people sent off???? Sheesh!

Grumble.

Can anyone say "Wooden Spoon"?

hm. apart from the bit about the trebuchet, i'm just going to have to take it on faith that if i had any notion of rugby, that would seem a lot less like gibberish to me. ("wooden spoon" ?? what ??) but, ah, so sorry for your pain ! i hope next game they, ah, use a fork instead. or something

Ah. This explains why there are a lot of people in kilts wandering around Cardiff tonight, plus an awful lot of singing in the pubs.
