I was going to get a Nook for my wife's Christmas gift but by the time I decided to get her a reader I wasn't sure if I could get a Nook in time for the holiday. She borrowed a friend's Kindle1 and like it so I got her the new Kindle. I didn't plan to get a reader for myself until I saw how cool they were and how much my wife was enjoying hers. I bounced back and forth deciding between the Kindle and Nook. I preferred the features of the Nook but was concerned because I read several reviews that said they were buggy. It seem like those who purchased them more recently are not experiencing as many problems with them so I guess B&N ironed out some of the bugs.

Welcome aboard. Keep in mind that none of the eInk displays will take much abuse. Pack it well for traveling in your saddlebag. You'll be happy you did.

I don't usually read when I travel. I'm too busy doing other things. My wife likes to read on the beach when we travel to the Islands. I'm sure the next time she will take her Kindle and I'm sure she will take good care of it.

There's a big 4 day bike rally in Wildwood just North of Cape May the first weekend after Labor Day. It starts that Thursday. It's called Roar to the Shore. If you never been you would like it. There's a smaller rally in the Spring that started a couple of years ago in Wildwood. Wildwood is only about 7 miles from Cape May. I grew up in Cape May County. I live near Atlantic City now.

thanks for that info eddie, but i do not like rallies.
i am a loner and love to be on my own.
ride only on weekends and did 12k miles last year. riding all year round, if there is no snow and ice on the ground. if its at the side of the road - i don't care.
there are nice snowy and icy roads uptown, not far away - one is called seven lake drive.
i like it there very much. right now all the sees are frozen, there are frozen waterfalls around and the road is mostly empty.

this fall i plan to do a ride coast to coast
from new york to chicago, denver, aspen, salt lake city, vegas, death valley, SF, LA and back route 66 until springfield/il and than back to nyc

btw - i have a honda vtx 1300 S - best bike i ever rode and i am riding since my 15s - and thats for almost 35 years now

like your scoot - but no more hd for me

ride safe and read a lot

I often ride alone but I do enjoy riding with others and to rallies. I always like being around a lot of bikes. I ride year-round also. I have been riding about 25 years and have never put a bike up for the Winter. I can't ride now. We had 3 major snow storms that broke the snowfall record in my area. And there is 5 more weeks of Winter left. I don't know how long it will be before the ice and snow is melts enough for me to ride. My last 2 bikes were Harleys but my 2 bike prior to that were Hondas. I had a '02 VTX 1800 Retro and before that I had a '98 Honda Ace Tourer. Both of them were great bikes. I came very close to getting a Gold Wing but decided on a Harley. I love my Harley but have nothing but good to say about Hondas and the 2 Yamahas I had before the Hondas. I had a great time with them all. My VTX was a beast. Much more powerful than my Harleys. See pic of my VTX below.

Thanks. If you are talking about the bike in the post just above I no longer have that bike. I haven't had that one for over 4 years. A picture of the bike I now own is in another reply on this thread. I see you are an author. What type of books do you write?
