Only if you managed to drop it edge-on to a thin, hard object, would the edges be at risk of serious damage. That is because the PEz is recessed from the edge :thumbsup

I agree that the way it is recesed would protect it from impact dammage, But that still doesn't protect it from grit/dirt/dust getting in there. As it is right now with the way my lawn is a bit bald in places I have to wipe the red clay dust off of the patio table every time I go out to enjoy a cold beverage and a book. I just want something that is going to protect the SD card slot and usb socket a bit better.

I just got my PP today. The factory Case is decent. I reckon it would work for most people. I have the Stylized en route but I will stick with the standard case for a while. Here I only have snow so no problem of sand or dirt, only of crushing my screen when I bike in the snow.....which I do most days.

I am loving my Pocket Pro. It's a cool little device. The included case is functional, but I really hate the color. I am wishing it had come with a black cover. I ordered the stylz case and I am waiting for it to come.

Once I get that I am going to consider how to alter the included case to my liking. I might try covering it with black leather or something. I am also working on altering an old book to act as a cover for the device. I am wondering what I can manage with some glue and elastic.

Has anyone risked using shoe/leather dye (The stuff used to color / touch-up shoes)?

Dear Violetspike:

I am glad you love your Pocket PRO!! We like making people happy.

I also agree with the purchase of the Stylz case as it is glove soft leather and protects better.

Over the last year I have noted that the color of the stock case is not perceived as exactly great. Some are fine with it... but IF I get a chance to beg the factory to change it... I will do so. Maybe a dark brown or even gray may work better.

Anyway... the Stylz case is fabulous and a ton less expensive than a lot of cases.

I think I have found the perfict case for me. JAVOedge Flip Case Unfortunatly they do not produce this model for the Astak Pocket Pro. I like the flip design and the little kickstand to prop the reader up, that would be nice when laying in bed with it or reading at the dinner table. They also have some very nice book style covers as well, but none for our devices.

I have sent them an email asking them to produce one that will fit our devices and encourage anyone else that likes thier designs to email them as well. Thier email address for device model requests is suggest@javoedge.com

Charcoal
Gray reminds me of the ship I was stationed on.
Black would get hot to the touch in sun

Be careful. Most pouches will keep out dust and dirt

Dear Smarty:

Be careful. A pouch can protect against dust and dirt but will not, by itself, protect the screen. That screen costs $95 to replace.

Choice of colours.

Dear Smarty:

We talked here, very early, about a choice of colors for the cases. But the factory wanted additional and that would have raised the cost. That is why I like the Stylz case as it comes in many colors and the leather is so soft and supple. Biggest thing I like is the special third padded flap to protect the screen!

PREMIUM Custom Leather Cases for 6 inch and 5 inch?

Dear All:

I went online and ran accross Noreve (www.noreve.com). These appear to be the top of the line cases coming in 12 colors. If you own an EZ Reader Basic and want the best... they have them in stock to fit perfectly at $71.88. That is a ton of money BUT these are world class cases. They hold SD cards, credit cards, and everything else. They are totally protective and the leather is like butter. When you consider that Kindle, Nook and Sony all offer VERY expensive cases... this is no more really than their best cases. AND... the 12 colors are scintilating.

I am asking them for info to me on Pocket PRO cases. Some of you will say: "stock case is all I need". But there are others that want the best. So, being partial, I think Noreve is about the best you could possibly want.

Nobody has discussed Noreve and maybe a few will love the idea. I do not know. Anyway, take a look and give us all your feedback.

Those Noreve cases are very nice looking but I see one problem with them. If you put SD cards and or plastic cards such as library/credit cards in those slots they will rub on your screen when closed. I have had that issue with some pda cases in the past that were designed like that. I think the Stylz cases have a much better design with the flap style screen protector between the slots and the screen.

So does the internal flap on the stylz cover rest on the screen of the PP when closed? Looking as some pics of the covers it seems there is a raised section that fits snuggly onto the screen when closed.

naturally, i would never use the pouch if there is any chance of accidental damage. Would you say the screen is easily damaged though?

i went to the beach today and used PP in its cover of course. I am very impressed with the visibility in a direct sunlight - its flawless. One thing, the screen gets quite hot under the sun, hope its not going to cause any problems?

I know about Noreve cases and their high quality. But at this stage i am not prepared to spend so much on a case when the only thing i dont like about the included one is the colour.

Someone was asking about the possibility of re-colouring with shoe dye.. i dont think the included case is real leather, so it probably wouldnt work.
