I read in bed with my reader every night. It used to be a Kindle 1, then a Kindle 2, then a Sony Touch Edition and it's now my Sony Daily Edition. I have fallen asleep and rolled on top of each of the readers. I have dropped each of the readers off the bed onto the hard tile floor. And on the nights I have actually placed the readers on the nightstand, several times my cats have knocked them off onto the floor. They all survived without a single problem. -Marcy |

I have too fallen asleep with any given one of my readers and nothing happened. To the readers. Me, it gave me the very very bad feeling I am getting old. |

Reading in bed till I fall asleep all the time. Luckily, I have a king size and wifey and me sleep facing each other. So no problem there. I don't move around too much at night and neither does my wife, so everything's fine there, too. Only drawback is the reading light that may stay on and will wake you up in the middle of the night. You then have to range both readers (Cybook and 360°) and turn off the light and go back to sleep. No big sweat there!

The Zodiac was an awesome device. I still have mine around here somewhere, as well as one for parts - I bought them as a package deal after Tapwave went under. Great device, but such a shame the company went under. I admit I haven't used it in years. I need to see if it still works and sell them - too nice a device to just sit in a box. Best daylight reflective screen and easiest to hold out of all of the Palm type devices I have owned. I am glad you still use yours! |

I voted for - I use it in bed but I take precautions. (As you know there would be thousands of us if I didn't) . Seriously though! as soon as I start to nod off I put it on the bedside cabinet. The floor is tiled so if I kicked it off in the night it would surely break. |

Add me to the list of people who read in bed almost every night. In fact, it's one reason I'm reading a lot more since I got my Kindle--it's much easier to hold my K while lying (laying?) down than it is to hold treebooks. Especially some of those big ol' hardbacks--they could break your nose if you fell asleep while reading them! Quote:

My rule of thumb is that if I catch myself nodding off once I'll keep reading, but if I do it a second time the device gets shutdown and put on the table. My wife has a palm pilot that she reads on, it's probably less prone to breakage because the screen is so much smaller. I find her asleep in bed with it lying next to her (and still wearing her glasses) at least a couple times a week. | |

I think I read in bed more than anywhere else! No problems yet. Kindles are relatively hardy (my iPhone also survives being used in bed and rolled on). The main enemy of these devices is LIQUID. They are more at risk if you put your kindle next to a glass of water/milk or a beer. Spill that liquid on your Kindle and wave bye bye. I destroyed an ipod touch very quickly with water damage. |

to read in bed. I used to take a book to bed with me every night. Of course, like some of you, I sometimes didn't get much sleep when it was a book I couldn't put down. But now my vision is bad and large print books are heavier than a paperback. So I gave it up. I think reading in bed will be another good reason for me to go ahead and buy one besides the myriad other reasons I have already thought of! I am so glad I read this thread! |

How about reading in the bath? Anyone do this? How do you protect your reader?
