Well, with the advancement in technology new gadgets have emerged. we are prone to DRM books. I prefer to read both (Paper & DRM).

Well, it is relatively easy to rebind a book. So books do not degrade so they become useless.

QUESTION — What is the value of a book?
ANSWER — Whatever the monopoly holder says it is. Now, if you had asked, What is the value of a book to ME? Well, don’t get me started… ![]() |

Well, equally, you could say that it's relatively easy to remove DRM from an eBook. But the point is that the typical reader probably doesn't do either - rebind old paperbacks when the pages fall out, or strip DRM from an old eBook if they buy a new device. I don't regard either a paperback or a cheap eBook as a "lifetime investment", but as a few hours of entertainment that, in all probability (with a few exceptions) that I'll never read again.

Which will be an amazing feature once publishers produce print-worthy ebooks. I'd love to have decent PDFs of my books so that I could reprint and bind them when/if the first version goes bad. Not especially likely to happen, but fun to dream nonetheless.

You are forgetting the case when buying a books and reading it 10 years later or so. This you have to do since books do not stay in print. |

All you have to do is take a short vacation in a jurisdiction where removing DRM from your own files is legal, and do your entire library while you're there. I'm not aware of any laws prohibiting you from then importing those files to your own jurisdiction.

If you go to that much trouble you can take the vacation in jurisdiction where it is legal to download books and keept them.

There are good reasons to oppose DRM, such as the fact that many other customers are ignorant of it and they might be hurt. But anyone who knows what DRM is is likely capable of removing it and, IMO, should just do so and stop whining that it is restricting their use. |

I think everybody that buy a DRM infested book is showing support for the system and prolongs the use of DRM. So personally the question about removing DRM never occur. Since you think it is easy to remove all DRM please tell us how to remove the Sony lrx DRM. |

I have no problem with buying a DRMed book at a price that shows its much reduced value. IF there is something that I just must have. But somehow I seemed to have bought far more books than I can read in a year. The DRMed stuff can wait until it is no longer DRMed. |

The MP3 format does not, and never has, supported DRM. The DRM-protected music files were generally either in Apple's "AAC" format, or Microsoft's "WMA" format, both of which do support DRM.
