@ill_dawg I fail to see why shortening typographical errors to typo's needs comments and laughs. Normal English language rules mean that if you are shortening a word by missing letters out of it they are replaced by an apostrophy. Cannot should be shortened as can't etc. Or do you mean I have made other errors in my text? |

Now, if we look at the quote above and the spelling of "apostrophe", we could well do another ![]() ![]() |

Typo is only a word if you speak slang, apostrophy was a straightforward spelling error. If this thread is deteriorating into picking fault with the language of non UK, USA or other English speaking countries then I will give up posting.

I am not as English-centric as I may appear. I grew up in a non-English speaking Third World country. |

I don't know what color the cover is yet, my parents are bringing it to Jakarta next week when they come to visit. I'll update when I get it.

also remember you can embed fonts within a pdf, so if arabic is an embeded font within the pdf, you wont need the font on the onyx to display it (its akin to displaying a picture)

Give this a go (for Arabic). I copied some Arabic text from STC website (www.stc.com.sa) into Word and printed out as a PDF ... I suspect it should work fine. I've used a lot of PDF docs with Arabic on my Iliad. |

I tried the arabic PDF, it works and displays correct. The letters will not enlarge as much as is normal with a PDF on the Boox, which (I assume) is because the font type is missing. It is possible to add fonts to the boox, it might be interesting to see what happens when a font has been added.
EDIT: I copied some text from the same page to a file and saved it as RTF. The website encodes the data as UTF-8 which is an option on the Boox. (ISO-8859-6 is not currently supported as choice). The RTF also encodes the text as UTF-8, but I am unable to display it correctly on the Boox. I tried installing a newer font, I haven't tried to use said font to change the RTF beforehand. I haven't actually used it yet, but from what I've heard, the 1.2.2 firmware supports https and will let you check most email online. Still waiting for the email client, though.

I think the web browser can still use some improvement, but I managed to get access to my webmail based on squirrelmail. With https. I don't have a Gmail account.
