That's part of what makes it a more appealing device to me. The larger LCD is more usable and readable. I just don't need another 6 inch screen and I don't want to pay the price they want.

Since my reader is with me at all times, I love the larger colour screen - it would make the pda portion something I'd take with me!

I think it's better than the nook but there are some things they could have done better here. particularly all the bezels being different sizes. they should have used an lcd that was the same width as the e-ink or hidden the differences with a piece of glass that made them look like one unit.

at least it gives them something to work on for version 2

And dual page flip buttons on each side for one-handed operation.

Thanks for the new information. I wanted the Alex for my birthday which was yesterday. I only have a few more weeks to wait I hope. I have a kindle 1, but wanted a reader for library content from Overdrive.

right. the protypes/pre-production images showed IMHO a better design.

Of course final button placement may have had to do with the balance in hand for reading comfort.

Now if only it was backlit I do enjoy reading without lights, in low light, etc.

Oooh! I LIKE this thing (just "discovered" it today)!

I had a Sony PRS-600, and I loved the touchscreen, search functions, and the expandable memory with the SD cards - it's just that my eyes could NOT handle the fuzzy text due to the touchscreen. I had to return it. I ended up with a PRS-300, which is great, don't get me wrong, but I sure miss the touchscreen!

Then, the Alex appears! Touchscreen for when you want it, crisp e-ink screen for reading only. In one package. Awesome!

I have one question about it, that I can't find an answer anywhere: Do y'all think the touchscreen will allow you to do page turns in the e-ink screen? And, along with that, [if the answer to that question is yes] do you think there will be a way to turn down the brightness of the LCD so it won't distract you while you use the LCD screen to turn pages...?

Man, I tell you, if the above two questions are yeses .... me just like Nikkie:

WANT (!).

Marilyn

P.S. 'Course, if the above two questions are not yes ... me still want, actually.

Same here, it's an interesting little device but not compelling enough. I don't see what it brings to the table to knock the Kindle or iPad out of contention. They don't say what the wifi is, I looked on their website but no mention of wifi g or n.

6hrs battery life when used with media, I am assuming that's 6hrs of video, so pretty decent. The touch screen looks very vibrant and rich, but I still don't really feel the need for 2 screens. If the primary use is to read print books, the greyscale is enough.
