Very happy with mine. I'd love a device that does magazines well (maybe the iPad, maybe a large eink device?), but the fact that mine doesn't isn't an issue.

I'm also quite attached to my current reader. I gave my old prs-500 to my partner, and sometimes when I see her using it... well, that thing served me well, and it'll always be my first dedicated reader

I disagree. If the books are available but are not being bought they would have to take another look at the price scheme. If they are just not sold by amazon it is different.

Count me among the 93%. It's not perfect but the Kindle is perfectly adequate for reading novels. Color would be nice for reading magazines but I read very few and those that I do read are available online.

Yep, having them on there and not selling well shows them consumers aren't willing to pay the price they're asking.

Vs. Amazon saying no to it and not letting consumers have vote with their wallets. Which just tells them that Amazon doesn't want to raise book prices, not that consumers are unwilling to pay them.

I'm with TallMom. I'm very satisfied with my Kindle. Yeah, sure, in a few years maybe some new technology will come along that will leave my Kindle in the dust; then I'll be even more satisfied, but for now, I'm really enjoying what I have!

That seems to be a high rate of satisfaction for any product, but it’s probably accurate, in my estimation. From my experience her, it seems that most people here—although I can’t recall seeing any polls on the subject—are extremely satisfied with their readers. We really like these devices!

I do believe that if the question had been asked differently (“How many of the current generation of eReaders do you rate fully satisfactory?” for example) I’m sure the percentage would have been significantly lower than 93%.

For both questions, there are those of us who would like see a response rate of 100%.

Is a seven-per-cent solution required?

The wording definitely makes a difference.

I'd be interested to see a poll run for each individual ebook out there asking a series of questions (to be determined!) to help buyers evaluate their readers based on customer satisfaction of different features.

Coming up with those questions may be a challenge though. Are you satisfied with connectivity? Well - that may mean something very different to someone who has a unit with WiFi or a cellular connection than to someone like me who just pulls out my memory card, copies stuff over, and reinserts. I'd say, "yep, totally satisfied"...which wouldn't compare to the WiFi owner's "yep, totally satisfied."

This challenge can make people trying to design valid and useful surveys pull their hair out....or pollsters chuckle with glee as they design their questions to elicit the responses they want. Without knowing the context (questions, how they were asked, who was polled, and how those people were selected), the numbers we get aren't really that useful in many circumstances.

Alas, to affect change, you need something measurable to provide a reference to know what's actually happening.

Let's see if I can explain why:

1. None of the e-readers I own, whether dedicated, as the Kindle 2, or general-purpose, as my Gateway Core 2 Quad desktop, brings me flowers.
2. I've never been taken to a movie by any of my e-readers.
3. Not one of my e-readers has surprised me by cooking a romantic, candle-lit dinner for us.
4. None of them can translate my favorite ebooks into Klingon - and adequately render them as speech - on the fly.
5. None of them function as: Star-Trek style transporter; 3-D printer; spot-and-stain remover; convert to a flying car.

So yes, I *am* dissatisfied with the current crop of e-readers!

Not me, I LOVE my kindles.

Having said that, I'll be moving to an i-pad soon and my Kindle DX will be inherited by one of my family members. Buying Kindles was a great introduction to e-readers for me, but I really like the idea of having color comics, magazines, interactive newspapers (and games/music/movies/apps) on my reader device as well as e-books.

If only considering the extremely limited novel-reading functionality, then I'd consider myself somewhat satisfied. I can almost read novels on it without real hassle. It's not comfortable, but it's plenty tolerable.

On the whole though, I can't claim satisfaction. If it cost less than $50, then I'd definitely be satisfied with it, but for the price, it simply is not a good enough product in any respect.

For what I mostly read, Onyx Boox is great. I'm satisfied with it.
Although I must say the price should be lower.
