This is the same on Windows XP. If you eject it from within Calibre the charging light goes out and if you leave it connected it will most probably be detrimental to keeping the charge you had.

Flat Batt!

Not used my PSR-600 since Christmas other than to load the freebies from Sony, and generally find my way around. Gave it a full a/c charge mid January and left in draw as I still have some paper backs to finish!! So last Sunday decided to buy some ebooks and load; battery indicator showed +/- 1/2 charged (begs the question why it should discharge when not being used for only a couple of weeks), so left on a/c charge until red light went out, couple of hours at least. Reader was off when I disconnected and was left on the side until Monday evening. Decided to load a couple of more books, only to find that the battery was nonexistent. Just about allowed me to switch on, then froze, had to reset to get it to work. Connected to PC via USB and had to wait the 5 minutes for enough charge to establish the connection, did the loading and then put it an a/c charge until red light went out! Seemed OK yesterday, but what is going on here? Surely we've had this sort of battery technology in other kit, phones, satnavs etc. for long enough now for Sony to be able to give us some state of the art set up for the battery charging and life?

Tell us a little more about your AC charger. Is it made for the Sony? Does it use the round charge connector and not the usb connector?

Have you ever used the music player?

3.Charge PRS using PSP charger till the red light goes off.
This method helped me solve battery problems too. Before doing that the battery would drain very fast (like one battery bar per day) but since I entered the test mode two days ago the battery meter is still full. I also checked the charge in the test mode and it's at 19 now (max is 23)

When you have the USB cable plugged in and the red light goes out before it's done charging, then you are draining the battery.
