Eventually I'll get to "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." It sounds really good.

Another endorsement for Boomerang

I just finished reading Boomerang by Alan Hutchenson (Plumboz).

Boomerang is a farcical romp that begins with the death of J. Edgar Hoover and ends with a high-stakes madcap race against time to recover a seemingly innocuous artifact. Alan has a way of making you truly care about what happens to each of the book’s off-center characters, each of whom is interesting in their own right, and each of whom will stay with you long after reading this book. Like many before me who have read it, I thoroughly enjoyed Boomerang and highly recommend it to all who enjoy a good adventure written in a humorous style.

A good issue. I enjoyed almost all the stories, although one short story didn't seem to me to be SF at all, but a fairly standard ghost story - "The Woman Who Waited Forever".

Now for Analog Science Fiction and Fact, March 2010.

Now for the rest of David Feintuch's Seafort Saga. Irritatingly, the fifth and sixth books aren't available as ebooks (& don't seem likely to be coming out any time soon), so I've had to resort to other means. But the last one is available, Children of Hope. I have seen mixed reviews of this book. The first ones were enjoyable, a "Hornblower in Space", although with obvious contrivances to make it so.

Joy Walton has put up an interesting review of the first book (& the series in general).

I read quite fast. And I don't watch much telly. I do think I'm currently reading a little more than I usually do - although this is the first time I've kept track.

Just finished Brad Meltzer's "The Book Of Lies."

It has a Dan Brown feel to it, though the world travels are only from Florida to Ohio. Brad is a good writer, with a reputation in the comic book realm, which explains why this book deals with the decades old REAL murder of Mitchell Siegel, father to Jerry Siegel, who created Superman.

Bought it from Fictionwise.com and enjoyed it on my JetBook Lite.

Next up, "Impact" by Douglas Preston.

Well, I have to say that they were most enjoyable. Action packed, and they move along fairly fast. I found them hard to put down.

Now for a 'mainstream/sf' - Timeline by Michael Crichton. I wonder if he's got anything interesting to say about time.

Wow, I am overwhelmed by all of these recommendations. I will revisit this thread often, I think. So many interesting titles-- speaks to the quality of the members.

Currently, I am reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. I cannot praise Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky enough for their transformation of this title. This may be as close to the spirit of the title that the English language allows.

While attending university, I trudged through a very bland and, it seemed, cursory translation from the Russian language. I was interested in the story but the translation simply did not keep me involved as a reader. The current version that I am reading, however, has kept me up at night.

Having meant to start it a few days ago when I posted it here, I have only just got around to reading The Machine Stops by EM Forster today. Finished that during my morning commute and am now reading The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein

I started reading "Murder Takes the Cake" which I got free on amazon for my iPhone. I think it's in the dreaded topaz format, and now I see how bad that is. Yikes!

I've been buying books from Kobo. As soon as you buy a title and download it to your computer, it also downloads to your iPhone. And teh format on the iPhone seems fine.
