not that i can find (i guess that would be too easy). however, now that i've installed the other duplicate manager i'm getting things under control. i've already made a lot of progress but i'm taking a break, i have a work conference call coming up. but as soon as i've finishing updating chrome from the server after i updated the server from firefox i'll do another duplicate count. maybe i'll be down to only a few thousand now.

Hmm... interesting. Must be some other tool that I have that removes duplicates. Perhaps my password manager. Thought it was foxmarks though. Maybe delicious.

Any way... sounds like you are using a seperate addon to find and remove dups.

yep. it's called bookmark duplicate detector, surprisingly enough. it is turning out to be very helpful, since for example if i take a folder full of bookmarks from the "imported from firefox" main folder, and move them into the identical folder in my original list, any duplicates are quietly "disappeared". i'm still doing most of the work by hand though.

Well that's it for me and Firefox. All the 3x versions on Ubuntu 9.10/Windows 7 are causing serious slowdowns system wide, but they're not even spiking ram or cpu...it's just..well I don't know what it is, but whatever it is, it stops when I get rid of Firefox. Now using Opera....smooooooth

you know, i'm really not feeling the browser love today. firefox 3.X has been weird for me too, and i've had a few random crashes lately. the new version of chrome, while it finally adds extension support, also broke the scrolling which seems like something you should really make an effort not to break, frankly. i suppose i could try opera, but previous experiments with it have left me... not too convinced. if xmarks works on opera i might just give it a try though.

I uninstalled Chrome, I was getting all kinds of weird tearing issues and it used a lot more ram than I realised at first (ram for every tab, yeah!). I hadn't used Opera since the 9x versions, but I'm loving it. It's very fast and responsive and bonus, it doesn't reduce the whole of Windows 7 to a standstill

i like the idea of chrome because i think it's meant to be a fast, lightweight, simple browser, and i think that was more or less the case at first. but to be honest i have the impression that each new version is slightly less good than the previous one, which is not really the way you hope developpement will go, usually. i was thrilled they finally added extensions, but seriously, WTF with the scrolling ???
