Hmmm. Well, pregnancy hormones do odd things. I'm the opposite. I never ask Chris to go get me anything unless for some reason I'm physically incapable of getting it myself at the time. Or he offers .

I think it's not so much age/experience discrimination - they just don't want to pay for or are afraid that you know more than the kid that is going to employ you

Just wait till you get finally an interview. Guess what the first questions are??? What experience have you got? Where did you last work? Always have to bite my tongue ... might have to work on that though as I haven't gotten a job yet

Why, oh why, do support personnel never read, fully, the question/comments I write. Recent communication with 2 big firms have been appalling, looking like they scan the message and pick out 'key-word' and then apply a stock answer. Do they not realise FAQs only go ---- so ----far ?!
One issue has been bouncing back and forth for over 3 months! Problem with this one is, that even when I reply to their response, another advisor gets involved and it is plainly obvious that they treat the email as a 'first', and not appreciate that there is 'history'.

Vent 1:
And then we have the advisor comment; "I've explained it to you", "It's your fault for not understanding !" (from 2 other companies).
You're cat's have support personel? Isn't that you? And why are you arguing with yourself over it

Some people have been known to lie on their CVs. In my (very limited) experience at the interview stage these things have not yet been checked. Simple questions like that can give hints as to how truthful the CV is. They can also be an excellent opportunity for you to expand on things you've got or done in the area that don't easily fit into the CV....

I'm starting to think that online job applications are purposefully set up to totally frustrate you and see how well you can handle that frustration. If you manage to get *anything* submitted, without complaint, it shows that you *can* handle it (frustration), which is obviously one of the job requirements for the position you are applying for. Which makes me think, if this is how the job is going to be (continually frustrating), do I (we) really want it?

or...

They already have someone for the position but are required by some law or union agreement to post it, and they make the application so complicated that you give up in frustration.

I think it's option one: you need to prove you can handle administrative bs, that you are consistent (between your resume and the answers you manually put in, there must be no discrepancy), you also need to show, in some cases, creativity (to adapt your resume to the different boxes you need to fill in) and you are also proving you really want the job if you are passing through the darned hoops for them.
Bf has sent over 80 resumes in the last couple months, many at the same companies, but for different job offers, and the hoops have always been there...

*Sigh* - I know that. Very annoying for those of us who don't. And everything on the resume can be questioned in a different manner than bluntly asking the question. If someone lies on the resume, one would think that they remember what they wrote.

Another pethate of mine: having to apply for a position and even being invited for an interview just because the laws says they have to. What a waste of my time and utterly unfair to all those who actually want a job.
