I bought several lights and like the Verilux best because I can read a whole page without adjusting it.

I received my verilux light which I ordered through ebay. It's insane, this USPS package arrived even earlier than the 4GB SD-card I ordered on the same day, but then locally... Anyway. Here're 2 pics. one with low intensity setting, one with high:
High intensity Low intensity. Compared to the reader, it's huge.... and heavy... but the light are even. (i'll test it tonight in bed ![]() From the pics, it looks like the verilux only light up the screen in contrast with the buglight. Could be a good thing. Because of the foldable design, it's easier to stowaway I guess. |

Here is what I get from both lights...
The Verilux is heavy, it does not have an even light all down the screen of the reader. The bug light has an even light on the surface of the reader. But, the bug light spreads more light outside then the Verilux. So the question is, what tradeoffs are people willing to put up with? |

Also it's more "compact" than the bug (IE no long antenna's) It's probably easier to set into "reading mode" too, after stowing it away. Whereas you might have to adjust more with the bug. And also the supposedly natural spectrum cathode light was a selling point for me too. I don't like the yellowish bulbs from other readers I had before. |

What I plan on doing is going to B&N and Borders and checking out their book lighs. I'll report if there are any I might like.

Just FYI: the lights on the Mighty Bright dual-antennae model that I have are LEDs.

I like the even consistancy of the bug dual lights across the entire reader. As far as how much light is spread outside the reader is a question for those that have one.

made used of the verilux last night. Although I was actually too tired to read, the lighting is good. The difference between low and high is minor. I actually find it a bit too bright, even on the "lowest intensity", so I had to dim it by turning the lightcathode so only 50% light is flowed out.
Contrast is very good too. The pages are almost white. The weight is a problem though. After holding the reader normally (with my thumb on the round silvery button) will be tiring. Last edited by athlonkmf; 06-20-2007 at 05:14 AM. |

Though it is heavier than any light that works with tablet batteries. It is probably heavier on its own and 2AA contribute as well (it is not a problem for me because I am used to reading hardback editions and the reader+verilux is much lighter anyway) but I agree it might be a problem. |

We are so different ![]() I use it only on the high intensity! Otherwise I would not accept it. ![]() |
