The Pouch, One Month On
I've used the pouch for a month now and still like it. It has performed as I expected it to and protected the Reader quite well. There was the coffee spilled on it by a waiter that wiped away clean, the knock off the table that caused more concern to the waitress than to me, and the rain showers that did not get to the electronics.
It still looks the same as the day I pulled it from the box. The Velcro still holds the flap tight. The Reader still fits snug in the pouch. All in all I am still well pleased with the Pouch for the Reader. |

Went to PO today, it would cost me 7$ to send the wrong pouch back (not a recorded delivery. The recorded delivery would probably be 1.5x more expensive). Unless Mr. B. refunds me I am not going to send it back, 7$ is 20% of the cost of the pouch let alone the number of times I had to call him and send emails to him.
Frankly speaking I am bit disappointed. The hardening material in the cover is way too soft to protect the screen. I hoped for something harder. It is softer than sony stock cover. So, I would not suggest it to people who are seeking a protection for the screen against physical damage such as pressure or accidental fall. Otherwise, the pouch is of a very good quality and very nice looking and I will be happy to use it as a general container that would keep the reader free of dust and similar atrocities ![]() |

They do seem to be VERY disorganized. I ordered a red pouch on April 16, presumably with the hard flap. I ordered by phone and the woman who took my order seemed confused by it. They charged my credit card on April 18, but only for $39.00. When I had heard nothing further by the end of April, I sent an email asking what was happening. I received a phone call from a woman who said that they were about to start making it. I pointed out that I had been charged $5.00 less than I expected, and that I DID want the flap. On May 2 they charged my credit card an additional $5.00. I just received the pouch and it is fine EXCEPT that it does not have the flap!!! I just sent an email saying that I am rather unhappy and asking how they will rectify the problem. I will see what happens and report back.
What I did receive seems to fit quite well over the Sony flap. Harvey |

Just out of curiosity, is your hard flap HARD, or is it a flexible plastic?

At first I thought mine was compressed fiber but as I have used it I have come to the belief that it is plastic. It is a bit too rigid to be compressed fiber.

I recently dropped my PRS500, it was about a 2 ft drop. The screen remains intact but the left hand side silver edging/paneling (the edge with the SD card flap) broke away.
If anyone has pulled their reader apart, you would of noticed the poor design of the side paneling. Basically the panel is clasped down between the two ends by two very fragile tabs. Unfortunately the force from a small drop can break the tabs leaving the prs500 with a gapping side panel. I would hate to see the damage from a more substantial drop. |

Six Month Report
Its been 6 months since the pouch arrived and it still looks as good as the day it arrived. In that six months it has protected the Reader on many airplane flights, lots of doctor waiting room visits, and uncountable car trips and lunches.
It does everything I wanted it to do and everything it was claimed to do. Six months on I am still well pleased with the pouch. |

How thick is the neoprene they use?
has anyone considered making their own? That way you could put in a stronger flap. |
