Here are a few basic games that would be nice --
Solitaire I want a blackjack game that teaches how to count cards and to do the right thing when given the opportunity to split, double-down, etc., all based on the casino rules being used and the number of decks being dealt.Sudoku Crossword Scrabble Chess Backgammon Hearts Spades Mahjong Another application I would find useful is an app that display Flash Cards with Spanish written on one side and English written on the other. You could use the app to drill yourself and build a basic vocabulary list. (I said Spanish but this could be any language -- and the Kindle should pronounce the words.) I'd also like a tie in with some of the basic Google applications -- Email, Calendar, Contacts, etc. A Kindle App that should not be made -- The Scary Maze Game. You know the one, where Linda Blair from the Exorcist screams at you when you complete the maze. It's real funny -- right up until the frightened player drops your Kindle DX and it hits the floor hard. |

Alisa, I was the same way, then my K1 broke. I ordered a K2, and now I wonder why I waited so long! I like it much, much better. And I was in love with the K1!

Obviously the need exists for a port of Frotz.

Wow, this is great so far.
A couple general comments: My guess is that modifying core reader functions will not be allowed by Amazon. We'll find out more.
Folders and Tags are BY FAR my personally most desired item, but I am guessing that it would be a waste of time. They are so desired that I have the feeling they're going to go into a UI upgrade straight from Amazon sometime soon. My personal favorite suggestion so far is frotz.. Google Apps would be lovely as well. |

One of the things that I really like about the CyBook is the library view which includes a thumbnail of the cover. I would love to see that on the Kindle.I also would love to see Calibre, some kind of organizing tool, an official screensaver hack, and fonts.

LEFT-JUSTIFICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Allow optional ragged-right to clean up bad line spacing. While in the area, and this is getting way type-geekish, but I could see adjustable leading and kerning too, but this is probably so obscure a request, and probably never be used, even my me, to rationally consider. Still, if it is just a matter of turning on existing code.... Second the call for ePub and other format support!!!!!!!! Last edited by dwallbaum; 01-22-2010 at 03:43 PM. |

As I said before, I still think a basic editor that saves directly to azw would be nice. As would the following:
1 weather/calendar 2 twitter client 3 twitter server 4 facebook client Derek |

As already suggested - Chess. But to make it really kick some arse, implement it with yahoo games server or server of it's own, where one can play over the wireless with other people. The data transfer in this game is minimal and yet playing against smbd else and not AI makes the big difference. EInk screen is not an issue too, as there's no rush...

Eeeek! It's for reading books! Don't mess with the program, please!
So, yah -- organizational stuff like tags / folders ... but no syncing PDA functionality, please. Maybe the option serif / sans-serif font. And zoom on pdfs. Letting me find the time easily (I know it's in there somewhere). But please: keep it tuned to really good reading experience. And, I admit, of all the non-reading apps, weather updates sound pretty cool and shouldn't stress the 3G network much. (And I'll never admit I kinda, sorta like the idea of Sodoku.) |

This is the nice bit about these being external apps, rather than baked-in - you can ignore the stuff you have no use for. People want to play Doom on their Kindle? More power to 'em, as long as nobody forces me to.
