I don't like the fact that it does not exist. You can rant and rave when it exists, but why jump the gun?

Let’s see now – ebook reader, newspaper/magazine/book delivery, web browser, photo display, video display, mp3 player, game player, app (program) player, recorder all in a light attractive package.

Nah – I don’t want one of those. It’s from Apple and they didn’t invent any of those things first.

LDBoblo has a VERY good point. No one here knows what Apple has up their sleeves, unless Steve Jobs hangs around here in disguise, which I seriously doubt. No one here knows what the announcement(s) is/are going to be, and all the theorizing in the world won't change that. It could be anything - games, a Photoshop replacement (which is desperately needed, IMHO), the LP thing mentioned by MoeJoe, a new iPhone, iPod, iWhatever. Yes, Apple makes shiny pretty gadgets - and a pretty decent OS too - but come on, y'all, get real. No matter what they announce, six pages of arguing about it is accomplishing nothing.

Yeah, it's pointless, but it is fun

Like this, for instance. Why all the colorful paint splodges? Why the thin rectangle in the background? Why does it say - Come See Our Latest Creation?

That's nice. Let's see if they actually release anything first. And if it has any value for reading ebooks.

If it's anywhere near as useful as my iPhone, but with a better screen, I'd say very yes.

I've read probably 50 books this year on my iphone and love it; my only complaint is that the screen is too small for technical books.

My main fear of buying an eink device is that the refresh rate may seem like falling into the stone age. I've gotten awfully used to stanza, and being able to turn pages a pixel at a time, and abort page turns if I change my mind before I finish the line I'm reading.

You must be limited in choice if you only buy things made by the people that invented them. thats a very odd reason to base a buying choice on.

no they dont Mike. the reason why is teh bit i posted about mobile gaming that is up there with the DS and PSP the iPhone and Touch can actually compete with these as a straight up games machine forgetting all of the other functionality, NO other phone can do that.

a Good example is the recent Rockstar Grand Theft Auto game which you can get on PSP DS and iPhone/Touch you can not play that on any other mobile phone device currently available.

Other phones may and of course do have games for them but are not seen by either the industry or gamers as a serious games playing device the iPhone/Touc is.

People talk about the iphone not being revolutionary but at the moment its the only device that can be a Phone, Internet browser, MP3 player and games machine(with actual mobile games as only seen on say a PSP or DS) ither phones do some of those and some of them better! but no one else does all of them. games are the big difference for many.

I expect that to be a big difference for the iSlate too.
Yeah, sure, there are absolutly NO games on android

And wath kenny said. No need to ask that question until the iSlate /itablet whatever is
1) More than a rumor
2) Accually out.

I didnt say that did I in fact I purposely said that games are available but not the SAME games as on DS, iPhone and PSP.

which are all seen as games machines as much as anything else.

NO android phone is seen realistically by the industry or the public as a games machine.

Not the same ? Are you sure ?
The only game i ever though of buying for iPod , that's myst, becasue the DS version is so horibbly bugged.
For the rest, my ds overmatch the iPod when it come to games, just like my P3 overmatch it when it comes to video and mp3 playing.
