Thanks. Seems I was being too anal (that has never happened before Luckily, most of the originals were pdfs, only a handful of epub, and I used Mobipocket Creator to convert to mobi. I see it makes a file in My Publications, and the original format is right there! I back up Calibre 3 ways now, including dropbox, and will make sure to keep the pdf in the folder that gets backed up.

You just reminded me I already have DropBox installed and that my eBooks are not yet backed up on there!

Since I too use Dropbox the only books I keep in Calibre are the books that I have already changed the font size, formatting and converted to epub. My Calibre library is currently 1090 books (635 meg.) I also keep many portable apps in my Dropbox as well.

I don't delete any files I use to convert my epubs, they're still in my source library somewhere and I have that library backed up too.
