I don't feel guilty. I read a lot of political and economic commentary prior to the 2004 election, and it did not improve my mood. I have held off since then, too afraid to get back to that place before the 2008 election. I recently read Too Big to Fail, and I really enjoyed it. It was like a murder mystery (of the economy). Today I read about 150 pages on taxation of component funds. I think I deserve to read not only fiction, but cr%p, after that. I am currently reading samples - I downloaded about 20 pages of them, and then adding about 1 book every 4 pages to my wishlist. Fiction is way better than samples! So there are people who read things even worse than fiction! |

My guilt concerning non-fiction is actually mostly directed towards school reading that need to be done.

Books for me are first and foremost a learning and growing experience, but I also like to mix things up, which is why I alternate between books that are fiction and non-fiction, dead-serious and lighthearted. That way reading stays interesting. You all know the old saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." (Or is that "All work and no play makes Jack?") |
