Although most of us hate aPple's closed loops, overprices and snotty reactions, through the eyes of a simple user we have to give them credit for making nice toys with interesting novelty features.

Even at 11" diagonal, the screen would be smaller than a hardcover (which is over 13" diagonal.) I personally dislike reading on my 6" K2 almost as much as I dislike reading paperpacks. The K DX is way better, but still, far from perfect. Quote:

I use an EEE once in a while to read and It's not quite pleasing to the eye. Ever tried watching a movie on an iPod? I definitely will not repeat that. And then there's the battery time we know nothing of. But mainly, eink is better suited to books. And since I have one... Quote:
I have used aPple products since 198* with the first LC20 and I cursed at them as much as Windows and Linux. Oh, and I've been married for 31 years so I have no use fer my parent's basement and that lovely girl she's my daughter and a mod on this site. And why is this d***** place always considered a war zone anyhow? Last edited by yvanleterrible; 01-14-2010 at 11:41 PM.

So, statements like that: "one is better than the other" will always bring out defensive reactions. Correct would be "I find the one better than the other", or "The one is a lot of times better than the other (but not always)". More people would agree and less defensive reactions will be given. So, a tablet (no matter who makes it) might be the best ereading device for one while another will think it's the worst.

I usually read paperback scifi, so eink is plenty for me. I was guilty of assumption there... I also have a lot of coffe table books that need a reader too, maybe a tablet with Touch zooming would do wonders there, just imagine the size of a document for high-rez pictures. Question is will that tablet have high capacity storage? An iPod Touch is clearly lacking that at this point.

I agree. They really should offer a lifetime warranty incl. upgrades to newer models.

At least Apple offers the option of purchasing AppleCare extended warranties, so one has an option if the device replacement is not affordable (so long as one is pro-active). William |

You know, offering those kinds of warranties generally give me a good reason not to buy the product... How should I trust their product if they don't even do it? I expect my products to work at least 3 years. If they don't, I'll never buy the brand again. (unless it's my own stupid fault, and that's not covered by the AppleCare extra warranty, I just checked, as I have "drowned" two mobile phones [I think that would be a too high humidity...] by accident, or if it's something so cheap you don't even want to bother with warranty...)

Apple sure is a polarizing topic! I'm still a Win-tel PC user but I have come to appreciate some Apple products. I got sucked in with an early iPod, which was the best device I could buy at the time. I was impressed with the design and even the box it came in! You could say packaging should not affect me but presentation of a device does affect opinion, just as it does for a meal. I got my iPhone 3G when it was, again, the best device available. Apple is not perfect but they get more things right than wrong. I appreciate the out-of-the-box experience with Apple products compared to their competiton. Maybe I just drank too much of the Kool-aid. |

Actually, the topic is not aPple, it's a rumor about a tablet they may or may not make.
