Oh the wrath! Oh, the anger! Oh the pummeling of writers' noggins if I ever see any of those for real!*

Okay people, if you keep talking about Marlowe and mashups, someone will hear it and think it's a good idea, and we don't want that, do we?

It's maybe the first and last time in my life I'm thankful for the ridiculous length of copyright - he's still NOT public domain in most places, right? So they can't touch him yet. We can only hope the fad will have disappeared by then.

I actually thought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was a good idea (in a funny way), but that was before all those other mashups started shouting for attention too. Haven't read it yet, and I'm not sure if I ever will, but though it seemed as a maybe cool idea for once, it's just ridiculous to be repeated with any classic known to man.

Oh no, why do I like these titles???

That would be great if Robert Rankin did it, and it was a parody of the detective genre. I'd buy it too (but he has to do another Lazlo Woodbine Detective story first though)

Lazlo Woodbine appears not as a character within Rankin's books, but as a fictional character within Rankin's books who is also self aware of his status as a fictional character and of the author whose writing him (confused yet? I know I am). Although sometimes he is a real character, but only as an impersanation done by another character in the guise of a fictional character.

Here, read this, it might make some sense (good luck though)

Darknet I'm afraid for most of his work. The last two you can get on Waterstones for ridiculously inflated prices (his books are short too). I'd love to be corrected on this though.

In Armageddon 3: the remake he makes a precious appearance as himself though.
I would kill to read some of the original Lazlo Woodbine thrillers...

Zelda, some are available, I don't remember which ones, and a lot are available in the darknet...

[edit] Actually I can only find the latest two as legal ebooks.

well, i hope the rest will be released soon too (ideally at reasonable prices) ; clearly this is a writer worth reading (and buying). i'm glad some are available already, at least. i'll see what i can find.

I remember when I first started reading Rankin, a friend of mine leant me a whole bunch and I read one a night, tears rolling down my face, my stomach hurting from the laughing. Being a big fan of detective fiction, the Lazlo Woodbine character had me hooked straight away

Exactly
I started with the Armageddon trilogy, and I must say Elvis and Barry the sprout were adorable (I never liked Elvis before, now I always laugh when I see him -erm, not that I actually see him much ), but it was Lazlo who really hooked me. I read every book Rankin writes, hoping for more Lazlo. It's a disease...
