I just love Robin Hobb. She apparently is starting a new series in the Farseer world.

I just started "Castle of Otranto" by Horace Walpole in ebook, then when I get home I'll keep reading "Trick or Treat Murder" by Leslie Meier in pbook. Both are on my books to read in 2010, and Otranto is on the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list.

I really enjoyed his Agent to the Stars. Apparently it was his first novel, available free, and really funny. Though I liked his style, I didn't read Old Man's War as it sounded more "serious" sci-fi and I wasn't sure I would like that. The Android's dream sounds good, I'll give it a try. Thanks, pdurrant!

Quick update on my latest reads;
All of George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman books (really annoying that some of them are very hard to get on ebook and it seems at random) Brent Weeks - Night Angel Trilogy - Seriously good, though a couple of niggles with continuity Joe Abercrombie - All four of his novels, and they're great. Thoroughly enjoyed the ideas and the way they were written. Hope he turns out another one soon! Currently just started "Rides a Dread Legion" by Raymond E Feist, big fan and have all the others but the start of this one isn't brilliant which is a shame coming off the back of some great books by Weeks & Abercrombie! |

***All of George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman books***
Couldn't agree more, Londoner. Fraser's hilarious, but his historical research is spot on. The Flashman series covers so many bases. I've only read them in treebook form. Must try for ebooks for a re-read. Cheers. Neil |

Just finished Huge, the debut novel of James Fuerst.
A classic hardboiled detective story, with the necessary wisecracks, femmes fatales, thickening plot, betrayal, gratuitous sex and violence - but with a twist: the hero is a preteen misfit in a small american town, and the crime some badly performed graffiti on the sign of his grandmother's retirement home. Good fun for fans of the genre. On another level, the book is also about the passage from the fantasies of childhood to the disillusionment, responsibilities and joys of adulthood. Oh, and the hero has a trusty and vicious sidekick! ![]() |

I just started "Monet Talks" by Tamar Myers, which I got from the library. It's funny, the last letter in her last name is missing on the cover. At first I thought I was crazy, swearing her name was Myers, not Myer, but a glance at the spine showed me it was a printing error. Oops!
