Richman, awesome to hear that it works now.

With the installer I would think something like an archive extracted to a memory card would be nice. Installation would then be just extracting to memory card and inserting to reader, then turn reader on and just to make sure, prompt if one wants to really install. This way there would be no need for different plattforms. But as far as programming, I don't know if that's doable. Just thought about how I would like to have it.

Just for reference, I've just updated my customized 1.2 (UK) reader to a 1.2+ version by using the script ZIP and a manual edit of my applicationStart.xml based on pepak's post but adjusted for the new location. I've not updated my kBookIcon.png so I've no icons for the new menu items, but other than that things seem fine.

The only issue that I've noticed was that when I tried to save a screenshot to the internal memory, while the picture viewer on the Reader could display it, I couldn't view it as a valid jpeg on my Mac. Repeating the test while saving to an SD card and there was no problem viewing the resulting jpeg...

No problems here with UK 1.2 and folders/games. Haven't checked screenshots.

There is a bug related to the popup notification when saving to IM. As a workaround try simply disabling it.

Hm, sounds like file system is corrupt. I'd suggest chkdsk /f <internal memory drive>: => reboot the reader, chkdsk again.

Has anybody tried formatting SD cards with anything other than FAT & FAT32... using Files and Folders you can browse fine upto just over 4GB of files but more than that shows fine on the computer whereas in the 505 the remaining folders show as empty. Believe this is a limit of FAT32... if I remember correctly FAT32 has a limit of 64K blocks in directory entries and has trouble with over 4GB anyway... any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Could the card be formatted NTFS or partitioned into 4GB chunks with all visible to reader via Files and folders... otherwise makes ability to handle up to 16GB cards rather redundant!

How do I replace the kBookAssets.png file on the reader with my own personalized (Owned by ..... If found call 3365551212) kBookAssets.png file?

Nope. FAT32 limit on drive with 512 byte sectors (normally you have x4 or x8 bigger sectors) is 2TB.

The way reader is accessing external cards is bugged (afaik card access utils reside in libuss.so. For some reason they don't mount external cards Linux way.). Known bugs so far were when using non-ascii letters. Did you use them?

You can replace kBookAssets.png the same way fonts are replaced. Basically igorsk's flasher can be used to replace particular files in the ebook. You put files you want to replace into "files.505....." folder, in corresponding subfolder (\opt\sony\ebook\application\resources\scripts\kBo okAssets.png). Then start the flasher, press 5 (it will create the image combining what you put into the folder with whatever is in the reader), then 6 to flash.

But I think what you want is actually in main.xml. You could update that manually too, just get the original file here:

Thanks I was just talking about the kBookAssets.png file but the other info is nice to know. I might edit thisarea too.

Is the kBookAssets.png image you use still standard? I'm just changing the "Reader" area and if it is still standard I'll do it straight away.
