I wonder if a similar device will be available outside of China...
I ask this since, if you check the Delyca product page, you will find their Delyca Tablet PC - miniCOON SERIES-F. It looks just like the ICD Ultra but they have different specs, e.g. Delyca runs Freescale ARM Cortex-A8 CPU 800 MHz/ICD will run a 1GHz Tegra T20 CPU. Also, the miniCOON SERIES-S looks identical to the camangi7 device. Hmmmmmm... |

Isn't it really great that we have all those intelligent users?
But sarcasm aside: I am not sure if the android system on this device will allow to install every app! If so, some may just not work with that kind of screen. I am thinking about the scrolling cover view of the Aldiko app, for example. Last edited by mtravellerh; 01-11-2010 at 06:36 AM. |

I don't care much about "liseuse", though I'd never use it myself. Of course, on these predominantly English-language fora I stick to "ebook reader" or some other conventional and commmonplace English term rather than 電子書 or 電子書閱讀器, which are what I normally say in real life. I could push it in Romanized Chinese as diànzi shū or diànzi shū yüèdú qì but I don't bother as it's intentionally confusing to those who aren't similarly contriving to adopt it for whatever reason. |

Do you two realize that you come across as trying to justify Jon's harassment of another member? I'm not talking about his opinion; I'm talking about the manner in which he expresses his opinion. The way he chooses to express his opinion is inappropriate.

Came across to me much more as grouchy (established persona) teasing over a known issue, rather than harassment. However, I suppose some people are highly sensitive to such treatment and thus I will defer judgment to more sympathetic minds than my own.

Now thanks to Kristian I at least know what's all the fuss about. I thought that liseuse is widely accepted term for ebook reading devices. Didn't know that someone might consider it offensive. Point taken.

For anyone else that might be true. But Jon keeps doing it over and over and over and over and over and over again. At some point it stops being a joke and starts being trollish.

Interesting find indeed. I'm in the market for an ebook-reader and have sort of given up waiting for a better implementation of touch etc. Can anybody think of any drawbacks in these specs? I've written them too about availability - if I hear from them, I'll post.

Then imagine an android browser on an eink screen, it would interest me how they solved scrolling on eink screen, does it scroll by line or page or how. Android on an eink device certainly requires some work-arounds. But the sole possibility of writing your own apps for it is intriguing. I can't wait until the first hands-on videos start showing up. Pity there are not more e-readers running android, as it would mean wider community of dedicated programmers. But the moment I get this puppy in my hands I start learning android API. ![]() |

Woh nice specs. So basically this does what a Kindle does (and more) for a much cheaper price?
Probably a case of chinese manufacturers learning exactly how to make a Kindle at the factory floor then helping industrial designers create a better version. One of the problems with making hardware in China, 2 years after production starts there is a generic version which does more and is 50% cheaper. |
