Hi, I'm installed of calibre for ubuntu 9.04 from ppa.
I've a problem with conversions... I proved make a simple conversion test from a .txt archive for many formats, p.e., epub, but when I use the viewer specific, appears some errors windows messages:

1) AttributeError:ypos; Details:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/viewer/documentview.py", line 482, in load_finished
self.scroll_to(self.initial_pos, notify=False)
File

2) AttributeError: scroll_fraction; Details:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/viewer/documentview.py", line 658, in resizeEvent
self.manager.viewport_resized(self.scroll_fraction )
AttributeError: scroll_fraction

---
Apparently the conversion is well finished, but I don't see with calibre viewer, after click ok on these two windows errors open the viewer but the clessidra don't stop.

---
Others informations
I did a test with a ebook of guttemberg project, I downloaded a book with epub format... and these errors occurs too... perhaps the problem is in the viewer or in my installation (I used synaptic for this with ppa, version 0.6.13).

Thanks,
Americo

It's definitely a problem with your installation.

If you're willing to upgrade to 9.10 you can try the binary installer from the calibre website.

Will Calibre run on Windows 7 64 bit? I see the note on the Sony driver. I plan to use a Kindle or PC to read ebooks. Should I try a download?

Maybe it should?

Untill it does, I'll uninstall Calibre, because it doesn't seem of much use to me.

The link you quoted tells you the steps needed to help Kovid get the device added to Calibre.

I don't have this reader. Maybe the Hanvon device doesn't appear as a USB disk to the operating system. But if the Hanvon reader does appear as a USB disk to the operating system, stop scratching your chin and step-up to the plate and supply the needed info to help Kovid get this device added to Calibre.

As long as the Havlon appears as a USB disk to the system Calibre can be used using the "Save to Disk" facility to load books. You can use all the Calibre facilities around Library management and ebook format conversion.

Getting explicit support added is easy if one follows the instructions provided in the User Guide to collect the way that the Havlon identifies itself. Once that informnation is provided then explicit support typically arrives with the next Calibre release within a week or less.

Advantages of explicit support are:
- The device will show up within calibre so that the books on it can browsed and deleted from from within calibre.
- An explicit profile can be provided (if required) to allow books to be omptimised for the Havlon during conversion

It would have only taken about 2 times the time spent to un-install Calibre, to push the button and Post the results. , then sit back with a "cool one" and wait for the next update (about a week).

Hi Readerz!

Can i somehow make some description for my books, which i can check when i scrolling through my book collection? I tried to put some description to the notes but its not appearing on my reader. I also used tags to do some collections but the problem is the same, nothing appearing in the collections menu.

I have a Sony PRS-300 and Calibre 0.6.33.

Thanks for the help!

I don't believe so.

My collection names help narrow down what the books under that collection are about. Often I have the name of the series or trilogy etc as the name of the collection. I also have collections with names such as Hugo Best Novel, Horror Writer's Top 40, Mystery & Crime etc...

The best I have done for more detailed descriptions is the metadata summary. I use the option to "Insert the book metadata at the start of the book." under Structure Detection during conversion (I convert all my books so there is a line between all paragraphs and so the font size is the way my older eyes like it). This at least places the Series and Series number along with the summary as the first page inside the book.

The summary helps me recall what the book was about and the Series # makes sure I'm on the right book in the series.

If you come across a better way let me know.

Won't finish downloading

First, I'd like to say how much I love the Calibre software! Its so nice to have the freedom to buy books elsewhere and convert them easily for my kindle
I do have a question - and I apologize if this has already been asked but I couldn't find it elsewhere in the forum.
I recently bought a book series and was able to convert five of the books successfully however two of them get stuck at 67% completed. Books 1-4 and book 7 converted great but books 5 & 6 won't finish no matter how long i wait.

I have downloaded the most recent calibre update, removed and reuploaded the books to calibre and let it spin for five hours to see if it was just wait time. I think the problem is in the books themselves not calibre - its the only thing that makes sense to me - but if you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

yeah sounds like the books are the problem. You can get details on the conversion by clicking the rotaating spinner and then double clicking the job name.
