jetBook and jetBook Lite were $130 and $110.
They had lots to begin with, but they were almost sold out by the end of the first day. Sp, who knows now? I'm going back there tomorrow, so I'll go see how they did.

Good pricing information, for those who want to know what to bid in the "Bid Your Price" popup on the Ectaco site. From Newegg reviews, it's best to buy directly from Ectaco for better service. Thanks.

That review from Newegg isn't correct. Tech support has said that you get the same support for the devices no matter where you get it from. If you have technical problems. There's a thread here about it already, and that review was (to me anyway), debunked. I also seem to recall somewhere someone said the person who left that review had done negative reviews of several readers on Newegg.

Pavel from tech support has been more than helpful to me, even though both of my devices came from Newegg, quickly answering questions via email & phone, much better than some other hardware vendors I've delt with in the past..

Agree. I have both units - jetBook and jetBook-Lite and I like the holder on jetBook-Lite and option to change batteries.

Agree, nice video! That price is not a "special" for CES though, Newegg.com prices today are:
jetBook Lite (Black) $119.99 Free Shipping
jetBook (Burgundy) $149.99 + $6.73 Shipping
jetBook (Black or White) $199.99 Free Shipping

Fictionwise.com has the jetBook Lite (Black) for $149.95 with $50 Micropay rebate, and I believe the Membership discount and Large Transaction rebate also apply. I have the Lite in Black but wish it came in different colors - love that Burgundy one!!

That can't be right, "ecc-toe"? It's "EC-Taco" from my point of view

I like the black plastic case, myself. If I wanted to change it, I would be looking
at the Paint on Tool Grip stuff. Maybe three coats and I'd have a waterproof,
non-slip, shock resistant covering.

Luck;
Ken

I'm with gr8npwrfl, I chose Jetbook because of its wide range of formats. And because it was not trying to sell me books. I quickly found that I loved its display compared to everything else.

At the time I bought mine it was the only reader that promoted easily being able to load and read books from your PC to a device.

Price didn't hurt any either.

Anyone who ever tried to use and compare both LCD and e-ink ereaders will defenitely feel that reading from e-ink screens makes more pressure on user's eyes. Unfortunately, most of manufacturers do not care about it, but about sales' increase.
Surprisingly ECTACO is the only manufacturer which produces ereaders for anyone from young to old-aged people who could read their favorite books not being afraid their eyesight would suffer.

In what way "more pressure"? Obviously I like the jetBook, but the only problem I see is the flash from page to page, and almost everyone who has e-ink screens say that it is easily ignored (your brain tunes it out).

Apparantely, my brain forgot to "turn it out" because my eyes got tired after 30 minutes of reading e-ink.

I wonder how many of the claims to be able to ignore the flashing is a kind of denial after spending the amount of money required for these devices. I can't imagine how the brain can ignore something so obvious when all reader's attention is narrowly focused on the display screen. Even if it was somehow possible for the brain, the eyes themselves can not be fooled or trained not to react.

If the flashing was to a complete black it might not be as bad as it is. What I find so disturbing, almost hypnotic, is that it displays a negative of the current content. That effect has been used in horror movies to give a very eerie effect. It interrupts the flow of reading not only by its lengthy time but also by disturbing the continuity of the thought process involved in reading.

That's why I prefer reading from LCD screens rather than e-ink. LCD is simple, cheap and convinient to read (no flash, no pressure on eyes).
