I think the screen size of the 900 (if it can be made in plastic) would be a great replacement for 6" screens and the 6" screens can then become the new 5" screens and the 5" screens can go away.

Of course I think you are very unique in that opinion. Many people like the 5inch devices. They are not going away any time soon.

I'm still waiting for iRex to get their 8inch DR800 out so we can see some real world reviews. I think that device is $400 right?

$450 I think is going to be the price. And if iRex does it well, they can capture the market from Sony & the DX. The 900 is a pretty well done overall. And the iRex will have to go the distance to get it right. None of this "here it is and we will fix it later" stuff.

I just saw on Engadget that the price has dropped to $349 after Spring Design teamed up with Borders. Here's the link. (If I post it right)

question to investigate...the LCD panel...is it transflective? Sure would suck to find out while one can read the Eink panel in sunlight that the LCD is useless under the same sun...something to think about when investigating this device.

Neat. Definitely seems better for me than a nook, because I'll get all the android apps I could want. I was going to go with the iRex, but at this point I doubt it will ever be released. I'm now trying to decide between the alex, the sony daily edition, and the entourage edge. The big downer of the sony is the proprietary OS - no apps, infrequent updates, oh, and it has no wifi, so I'll always have to load content via the usb cable since I won't be buying from the Sony store...too pricey! Also sticking that statement to the newly announced pricing of the que - ick.

A daft thought, I know, but I wonder if there will be a higher proportion of folks called Alex opting for this device than buying alternative readers. My son -- Alex -- won't let the davice name influence him, but maybe many Alexanders and Alexandres will.

Agreed. If I can't turn pages one-handed, I can't use it on the subway commute.
