It's been snowing almost non stop for the last couple of days, it looks beautiful!

We've got a cold snap for the next two weeks. Drudge even put up the headline about it.

It will be the coldest snap here since Jan., 1977. I put the flannel sheets on the bed today.

Brrrrrr, cold over here too: -9°C / 16 F outside. And someone at work turned the radiators off before the holidays. My fingers almost freeze while typing.

Snowing ..... again !

This is the longest spell of snow lying I can remember, and certainly here. We have around 10-12 inches lying - and some of that is on ice.... the local road is slushy and our track to the road is only passable by 4*4 (which we no longer have).
It has been worse, in the past, because this event has been almost windless and previous years have been significantly more difficult due to drifting...

Luckily we have enough food for a week or so - stocked up with enough cans for DGma's soup), and no-one (yet) needs to get out. (It's a 2 mile walk to the nearest shop.)

Here's a toast to global warming .....

We finally had some rain. Not a lot - just about 60mm/2.4" in about 24h, but it was enough to fill the water tank, which hasn't been filled since installed in August. Yesterday the warm, summer rain gave me a very pleasant drenched walk home up the hill from a swim at the beach too.

It's nice to have summer's rain back. Now we'll just see if it coaxes the summer storms back.

These are supposed to be the coldest temps since 1985.

This is Alabama. I don't even own a warm coat, just light jackets. Which are usually in the back seat of the car, in case it gets chilly.

It's not much better in Texas. It's 20F here. We're supposed to get compression heating from the next cold front today/tonight, then drop below freezing for 3 days straight. And windy....

I remember the winter of '85 in San Antonio. The pipe froze in the wall and split, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.... (And it happened all over town.)
