One of my most cherished childhood memories is how we kids would watch old Castle Films in my shed. Those 8mm silent condensed versions (most about 8 minutes) of theatrical releases were great! One of our favorites was The Amazing Colossal Man. We also had Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, and others, but my all-time favorite was Flip the Frog and the Cuckoo Murder Case (although I can’t recall if it was a Castle Film or not).

Trying to reason with a Siamese. I know it's an exercise in futility, but it doesn't seem to stop either him or me, LOL. He wants outside, because it's all nice and sunshiney, but he doesn't realize that sunshine notwithstanding, it's 5 degrees F out there, not to mentioned the ground is snowcovered. NOT a good environment for him - but try making HIM agree to that! He's standing at the window by my desk, yowling for me to open it for him, and I'm refusing. He's not happy.

He'll discover quite quickly that it's cold and that the ground is covered with this frozen wet stuff, and come back in. Of course, he'll then yowl and give you filthy looks because you're the human and are supposed to prevent such things... ![]() ______ Dennis |

I once shared an apartment with two other people and three cats: Toshiro, Bewilderbeast, and Sponge Cat. Sponge Cat was a rescue, and the resident paranoid. You never saw Sponge Cat save at meal time, and perhaps not then. One Saturday evening we all went out to see our favorite band, returning in the wee hours of Sunday morning. As we walked in the front gate, we heard a pitiful meow. Sponge Cat? Yes. Apparently, the bathroom window was ajar enough to let her squeeze out. It overlooked the arched dormer roof over the front door to the building. She slid off the roof and onto the ground, and huddled in terror under a bush by the front gate. We took her in, fussed over her and fed her. The traumatic experience caused an abrupt change in her behavior. She apparently decided that health, safety and happiness consisted of being as close as possible to a person at all times. Sit in a chair, and you had a purring Sponge Cat in your lap, giving you appealing "You're my person. You'll protect me and keep me from being stranded outside again, right?" Go to bed, and you had a furry throw pillow. I've never seen quite that dramatic a change in an animal's personality, before or since. ______ Dennis Last edited by DMcCunney; 01-02-2010 at 04:26 PM. |

Well, actually, I think it might have been as warm as 20 degrees, (Fahrenheit), but we still had snow, and it was way too cold to be out there chasing a spooked cat. She had "escaped" somewhat on the order of Spongecat; but instead of wanting back in, she wanted to stay OUT.

Just OCR'ed and created my first ePub book based on a public domain Afrikaans work. was shocked that Project Gutenberg only has 3 works for the Afrikaans language. It doesn't look like anyone is taking the time to preserve any of the wonderful stories that are now public domain.
Since it's my first creation it'd love some feedback/pointers. So if you guys have time I'd appreciate if you could give it a look (even if you can't understand the language) - Kootjie Totjie. Those from the Netherlands should be able to understand a reasonable amount since our two languages are very close. German speakers might be able to catch a word or two. |

She's actually escaped a few times, but for some reason over the last year or so she hasn't shown much inclination for the outdoors. |

Golden Oreos and Hazelnut Dunkin Donuts coffee, on a seriously cold evening (currently -3 deg F) waiting for a download to finish, at which point I will NFS it to the living room computer and camp out on the couch with my beloved phenomshel.

I am watching my 7yo play with Wii Fit Plus! I got a Wii for Christmas this year, brought on by my husband's thinking that I'd like some wii fitness games. So he got the wii with the New Super Mario game (to which I now have a shameless addiction). The next night, he came home with MarioKart (both these Mario games were games we remember fondly from our days pre-kids with our Nintendo 64) and a few steering wheels. A day or so later, after doing some research, I make my choices (Wii Fit Plus and EA Active Personal Trainer) and come home and have been working out ever since
![]() On New Year's Eve, my darling husband brought home a few extra controllers (we now have 4 sets, complete with nunchuks and steering wheels), and we brought in the new Year with 4 of us (middle child was sleeping off a headache) playing Super Mario and killing dragons. I am not sure the last time I have laughed so hard in my life! Definitely family fun. I still like board games for family fun, but this comes close! As you can see, I've been busy. |
