Trying to conjure up a genie who will decide what I'll have for lunch and then make it for me. So far, no luck.... still rubbing on this old lamp trying to make it happen...

I'm reading about artist David Levine who died this morning. He drew caricatures for the New York Review of Books and you've likely seen many of them. I'm looking at many of them now.

Off to bed, after spending way too much time deciding on the last couple of purchases from Fictionwise before their discounts end. Why is it always so DIFFICULT to decide which books to get?

Oh, bother. I'm a sometime subscriber the the New York REview of Books, and loved Levine's works.

A gallery of it is here: http://www.nybooks.com/gallery/

I'm watching Dirty Jobs after having a delicious dinner (pierogi egg rolls and beef brisket with onion straws) for dinner. I want to marry Mike Rowe. *sigh*

Brisssskettttt.............*imagine me with zombie like arms stretched out following the lure of brisket*.

In Texas, brisket (NOT corned beef!!!) is available in every supermarket meat department, and usually at a fairly decent price. Here in IL, you have to ask for it, and then they want to charge you six dollars a pound! (No, I'm not exaggerating). This Texas girl misses her brisket something awful. I've only had it twice in the last five years that I've been here, thanks to a kind customer that has a Texas wife and took pity on me and brought me some the last two times he's fixed it.

I paid $13 for mine (at a restaurant), which I was extremely happy with since it was a giant portion, and included onion straws and some BBQ sauce. I'd fedex you my leftovers, but I'm having them for lunch tomorrow

At the risk of bringing vents and rants in here, I only WISH I had a BBQ restaurant in this town!!

Me too!!! They were way out of our price range then.....but have come down considerably........especially if you forego the outside water dispenser (always hated that anyway) and stainless steel.

So far, so good......
