Right now I'm trying to summon up the energy to do some work - it's my last day til the New Year (we close between Christmas and New Year, and I've booked tomorrow off - 8 days holiday for the cost of one

I just got up at 3:00 AM. We're heading to Vancouver Island to spend Christmas with my sister. The only ferry we could reserve today was at 6:30 AM.

I'm not looking forward to a 1.5 hour ferry ride and a 2.5 hour ride in the truck, but I am looking forward to seeing my sister. She just sent me a SONY gift card for Christmas. With her gift, and my winnings at the MR winter contest, I can completely wipe out out my wishlist at the Reader Store with credit left over.

I'm right there with you sister. Last day of work for me until next year... with a 5 day Caribbean/Mexican Cruise starting 3 days after Christmas today is dragging. We are even allowed to leave 2 hours before our normal time and it is still dragging.

My younger brother went to Mexico on business a week or two ago and came back with a nasty illness. Now his two preteen boys have it. It's good that you got vaccinated. I don't know if he had H1N1 but I know he could barely get out of bed for the better part of a week.

Feeling distinctly BAH - HUMBUG'ish. I'm still sick, and probably still contagious, but I work in retail, so it's off to work I go tonight. (I have never understood the logic about retail workers being practically forced into working while sick ..why, so they can infect everyone in town?). Anyway, due to cold-enforced downtime, I didn't finish handmade and handbaked Christmas gifts (Would you really want candy and cookies made by someone with a drippy cold? I didn't think so either). So I just spent 37.00 at the dolllar store on "placeholder" gifts so Chris will have something to take with him to his parent's house tomorrow. And I may yet be bullied into going with him, I'll just have to bathe in hand sanitizer and not breathe. (Come to think of it, maybe this belonged in the Vent and Rant Thread...) Scrooge lives at my house this year....
