I just saw the Entourage eDGe

I spent some time in the offices of Entourage this afternoon. This isn't a review or even a brief impressions. It's just a note. I will write a longer post but for now I want to say this: Do not buy the Kindle DX, DR1000S, or the DR800SG. At the very least wait until I after I post my review. Trust me, the eDGe is worth waiting for. |

I feel the 2 screens maybe inconvenient (at least will be for me). They should consider offering a single eink screen version also. | |

I took a look at the site and the first thing that leaped out at me was that they got the screens backwards. Maybe I'm funny, but I think the E-Ink screen would work best on the right rather than the left. |

Can the LCD screen be turned off to save the battery when all you are doing is reading?

I don't know. I was just looking at the website and the eDGe seems to not really satisfy any need. At almost 3 pounds it's very heavy for use as an ebook reader. Battery life for the e-ink screen is listed as only 16+ hours. As a netbook it doesn't have a keyboard, only a virtual one and probably won't run my Windows applications so I can't work on documents or accounting files away from the office. It seems to strip away the most useful portions of an ebook and a netbook and leave you with something that doesn't quite fit either niche.

I'm certainly very intrigued, but I suspect the weight will be a deal-killer for me. I might reconsider depending on how it feels (particularly if it doesn't run "hot" like my laptop), but a kilo is an awful lot.

Oh my, the website has a lovely demo and at this pricepoint I can see purchasing it if I sell some other gadgets. Really, need to see how functional Android is on a netbook before I consider buying this. |
