You always have me!!

Although you are new, I already love your posts and want you to not feel like we are not here to help!! You can always email to:support@astak.com or call: 1-866-368-8788!! We love questions like this and will find a solution. I do suggest storing all your eBooks on an SD card. That way you can use a card reader/writer which is far faster and you always know they are there!! Please have patience!! You have a great device, this is likely a simple problem to solve, and we are dying to help you!! |

Why use an SD card if you have enough internal memory? Plus, using an SD card when one is not needed will add extra drain to the battery.

Hi again.
My plan is to continue converting and downloading my ebooks to the internal memory but also do a backup on the SD card. I will still use the internal memory to access my ebooks instead of the SD card. Right now I have all my ebooks saved in 3 spots - on my computer, on a USB drive, and on a 120gb external hard drive. As you can tell I'm a little paranoid that I will lose them! To Robertb: I think it's very cool that you take the time to answer questions as an Astak director. I will be calling you all tomorrow though because when I received my reader the cover/case was stained in several spots. I would like to get another one. Not sure if that will be possible but I'm hoping so. Everyone here has been very helpful. Thanks! Weezie |

I have read on this forum of others receiving replacement covers before; this is possible. ![]() |

For me it's faster to load the books to an SD card and pop it into the reader rather than get out the cable, connect, sync, eject, etc. etc. YMMV.

SD cards typically have transfer rates in the range of 10-20 MB/s, USB 2.0 has a raw data rate at 480Mbps, and it is rated 40 times faster than its predecessor interface, USB 1.1, which tops at 12Mbps. Originally, USB 2.0 was intended to go only as fast as 240Mbps, but in October 1999, USB 2.0 Promoter Group pumped up the speed to 480Mbps. |

Iit still has to write the Internal/external SD memory... Which you point out is Limited to 10-20MB/s You are confusing Bus capability with practical application ![]() If you could Write to both the Internal and the SDcard slot at the same time, you might double the transfer rate (20-40MB/s.) Only a few devices can handle the theoretical USB 2.0 speed and you are using a major portion of your PC'c data bus speed at that rate. |

It's not the point anyway. It was just silly advice to not use the features of the device he is selling. There may be reason for putting books on SD cards instead of internal memory but it is irrelevant to the OP's issues, did not cause them and will not prevent them. It's a simple matter to drag and drop the files to either internal memory or sd card and there really isn't much difference in speed as far as I've seen (despite the numbers above). |

![]() I have used Explorer on one and Calibre on the other, but keeping things straight ![]() We still have not solved why some of us MUST use USB 1.x if we wish to connect and others have no problems. |
