Three cents worth in regards to the Archos...
No other devices in the running offer 160gb or 320gb of storage. I don't own one, but if I were desiring to carry an incredible library of media files in a small form factor... with a superb screen, there's really few other choices. |

Archos vs. A81/W1060
Since we're talking about Archos it's only fair to point out that in my experience their products tend to be plagued with bugs and defective code when released, almost as if they expect the customers to be the final beta-testers. But within a few firmware updates, most if not all problems are corrected, it was like that with the 605 and that's how the Archos 5 and 7 and now the Archos 5 Android have worked. As long as Witstech updates the firmware regularly and delivers on Android in the next month or so, I'll be patient.

[QUOTE=Dvalin21;699097]Its sounds like your having a problem with with the DHCP (software usually found on your router to automaticly generate a IP address for each device on your network).
@Dvalin21: Wifi Problem is caused by our new firmware which update bluetooth function.So it is in conflict somewhere with WiFi. WitsTech has realized the issue ,and has been working on it actively. This week we will release solution. Just a little bit patient! Sorry for the inconvenient. Regards Kathy |

Kathy6699,
Thank you very much. I look forward to hear about the update. I know everyone will give there reviews on how it works for them. I also hope that in the new firmware that the problem with connecting to Bluetooth Headsets is also fixed. @All I've recently discovered that the Archos' Hack team tells me they have figured out how to exchange the HDD without it breaking. Its close right now with the Archos 7 and the W1060. But right now W1060 is in the lead(found out that the A7 does not have android on it nor can it be installed, just hacked for extra functions, which means I can't install ANYTHING ![]() ![]() |

Dear coldsun I wouldn’t dismiss the A7 so easily. It’s cheaper and it’s going to be even more after Christmas (210 dollars I guess as opposed to 220 + 35 postage + 35 for SDHC = 290 dollars for a W1060). Functionality; A7 is fully functional right now although still buggy, w1060 is going to be fully functional in the future (is it?) and the storage capacity of the A7 is unbeatable and upgradeable. I totally agree with you that voiding the warranty is a big no no (many people out there don’t share our point of view) but still my humble opinion is that at least until the release of a new improved firmware for the w1060 the A7 is a very serious competitor and possibly the best value for money. Let’s hope that wirelession will do some kind of magic with the new firmware and if they do I might go for their product.

OUCH!!! That would have been great if it had been more like a tablet than a netbook. And what is 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core. I know the Archos products have them too. Is it like a dual core?

@skyline - please understand I dismiss no device! If I could have all of them I would.
![]() ![]() Now, take a look at this device, and try not to drool! http://carrypad.com/2009/12/21/icd-u...-and-overview/. @Dvalin21 - from all your previous posts, from your requirements and discussion, the device linked above might be perfect for you. I wonder what the price will be? ![]() |

@Coldsun,
Not fair at all, lol. I need the mop for the drool. That is going to be awesome. I found a link that has a "RUMORED" price range of 249 dollars. We can only hope and pray ![]() http://androidandme.com/2009/12/devi...ndroid-tablet/ |
