So my total spent after this was $50.28 and I got $40.40 back in rebates, making my cost per book $1.64---and that's before I even spend the rebate!
Faulty math. You've spent $50.28, so far you've gotten 6 books-that's $8.38/book. Yes, you have the micropay rebates-but that will increase the number of books you got, not the amount spent.

Assume (to make things come out evenly) you do a little better on the books you purchase with micropay, 'paying' only $8.08/book. That gives you 5 more books for which you've spent no additional money, so you spent a total of $50.28 for 11 books, an average of $4.57/book.

Now that's not bad so I'm not denigrating the deal you achieved, just showing the correct way to calculate the per book price.

With the current 40-60% rebates that are being applied even to Micropay purchases it is easy to achieve about $2.50/book, even with initially buying expensive books with 100% rebates to get the credit.

The correct calculation is of course the amount of real money spent divided by the total number of books obtained after using up your credit.

I just bought 4 expensive books for $55, getting $56 in rebate (one only had 60% rebate instead of 100%, but the large transaction bonus for the $50 purchase gave me enough extra to get 100% + $1). I then bought 12 books and 3 short stories with some of that that credit. So, discounting the short stories, I got 16 books for $55 or $3.44/book, already a great deal. However I still have $27 in credit left. I've just bought so many books this month I have to figure out what else I want!

Today I purchased 8 books in 2 transactions, some with CC and some with micropay. The charge to my CC was just under $13. Cost per book is about $1.60 and my micropay balance is about $3.50 higher than when I started. Of course, these weren't expensive books, average starting price of around $7-8, but still...

With another coupon and loads of new books listed I just had to go and buy even more books. It's an addiction!

Currently Fictionwise memberships are on 100% micropay rebate. So for $29.95 you get membership (i.e. 15% off everything), and $29.95 micropay AND a $10 coupon for any ebook.

If you're not troubled by the geographic restrictions, the current fictionwise rebates are amazing. Just buy enough to keep you going until the next special offer. :-)

Yep, Monday morning I'm going to check the last new releases before these deals all expire, clean out my wishlist, and then go cold turkey for a while. I think I've bought enough books in the last couple of weeks to keep me going for several months - and my TBR list was quite healthy before I even started!

My TBR list could keep me for probably 3-4 years, assuming I read everything on it (some books I buy because they sound interesting, but once I start reading them discover they aren't) and keep working (which reduces the time I have for reading) and stay married (family keeps cutting into my reading time-but it's all a matter of priorities anyway).

Maybe longer.

If you have enough money in your micropay account, then you can use it to get a club membership. It's really no different then paying by credit card and getting the micropay rebate.

You know, I could really have used that coupon a couple of days ago when I was grabbing a couple of books before the end of the 40-60% sale...I really do think a dedicated sticky for coupons from fictionwise and the like would be a very good idea, since I can't always track them down on mobileread.com, even through the search box.

Noted and bookmarked, Anzandas, thank you. Though I do note the JK25 coupon isn't listed there (though one called LC25 is, so maybe it's some kind of variation). I'll be checking this a lot in future.
